Sorry another late night early morning question.....

When I click the RRDB Differences the manual says:
Click the 'RRDB Differences' button.
• After the RRDB Differences window loads, click the 'Get RR Data' button.
• An automatic RRDB login is performed using the same RRDB login credentials from the Import RR window. If an error
occurs logging in then go into the Import RadioReference window and check your credentials.
• After the Differences tree loads, scroll down and look for rows with colors indicating a difference.

After I click RRDB Differences nothing happens....What step am I missing and I've attached 2 pictures just to make sure I'm clicking the correct RRDB Differences

It says:
Click the 'RRDB Differences' button.
• After the RRDB Differences window loads, click the 'Get RR Data' button.
Nothing happens when I click the red box where RRDB Differences is...

Thanks for any help!

The button is not showing. 2 possible reasons:
1. The system wasn't imported from the RRDB
2. The helper file "RRDB Import.txt" is missing in the ProScan folder.

The button looks like this except this is shown in Dark Mode.

Well as usual

I built the SDS200 on my main PC while working on my room. Looked in the Proscan directory and there is the "RRDB Import.txt".

The scanner has been moved and is connected to another PC so I should be able to just copy the file over to the other pc but still no change AND it does not work on the old Main PC.

Here is where I think I'm doing something wrong......your picture with the RRDB Differences above is different than mine I'm I using the wrong RRDB Differences?

Here's anothe picture. Only one area with RRDB Differences. After copying the file over, try restarting ProScan.

OK....got ya....looks like mine but the the "system name" field is not populated.... Until I scrolled through some others and I found one that looked similar and there were some dependencies......so I will say it is working due to your fields being populated my screen looked different and I thought you were in a different screen.

All good now, it's just the pic 1720676711591.png

Sorry still learning....when I have a second....

Thanks as always for your help and greet app!!!!

What causes the RRDB Differences button to disappear? One of my favorites is heavily modified and has never displayed the button, which is totally expected for that particular one. However, all of the other favorites (and systems within them) were imported from the RRDB using ProScan. The RRDB Differences button is available only for a few days and then it's gone. A couple of systems in my favorites are new, and there are TG's being added a few times a week, so there should almost always be a reason for the button to be displayed. The only way I've been able to make it return is to delete, and re-import the system.

Can you advise on the ProScan version and scanner type.

Most current version 23.5 and 436, 536, and SDS200. The issue was also present in previous versions as well.

I never really paid attention to this issue in the past, but with the new P25 system in UT coming online, I noticed that I would have to start over with a fresh import to restore the button. I first noticed that I would lose the button if I made any changes to location, range, or renaming TG's, so I stopped doing that. Everything seems to work for a while, but the button would still disappear. Initially, I was under the assumption that no updates were being made, but when I check the page on RR, there were a pile of new TG's added. I figured that I should ask after having to start over so many times.

Do you think that it may be caused by running multiple instances? I access the editor and add UID's to my favorites from whichever instance has new data. Could this be messing with the helper file that was mentioned a few posts back?

Edit: Of the 26 systems in all of my favorites, the only one that has the RRDB Differences button is the one that I deleted and re-imported last night. I'm pretty sure that it's user error, so I'm hoping to get pointed in the right direction.

I only change my FLs from a single specific instance of ProScan, even though all instances ( and Sentinel) use the same FL folder/files.

Making updates in Sentinel definitely causes problems for the RR change detection logic and I only assume other instances of ProScan would too.

btw latest ProScan version is 23.4, not 23.5.

The whole RRDB Differences function was reworked just after the current version (23.4) was released. It will be in the next version.
The biggest difference is that the RRDB info (or indexes) are now included in FL files (under the system lines) and not in the "RRDB Import.txt" file (helper file). It's more reliable and other instances of PS can use the same FL files without the RRDB Differences button disappearing.

That is one of the reasons I tried the pre-release. The only favorite that I frequently edit has never displayed the button, but I've changed virtually every aspect of it to match exact site coverage, current UID's, dept and TG range, etc... All other favorites contain only RR data that was imported directly, so I rely on ProScan in order to make changes for them. The only thing I use Sentinel for is to sort UID's for that one specific favorite, and master DB updates.

Did I send you a preview test version 23.5? and did you send in a Bug Report via email?
You didn't send it directly, but I read the post you made about it and decided to give it a try. This issue was present in previous versions as well. The only real change I noticed about the new version is the column positions actually stay put now (thank you!). I did not submit a bug report since I'm thinking the issue may be from running multiple instances.

Edit: And user error :ROFLMAO:

Try importing again w/ ver. 23.5 and see if the RRDB Differences disappear. Prior to 23.5, there's no way to recover the missing RRDB Button if it disappears.

That's exactly what I've been doing. I've been using 23.5 since the day you posted the link to it. I have had to re-import the same system at least 3 times to restore the button. I don't know exactly how many times I've re-imported other systems while using 23.4, but it was a few at least.

The problem with the RRDB Differences feature is the storage of the RRDB indexes. They need to be stored somewhere. Before test version 23.5, they were stored in the "RRDB Import.txt" file. That wasn't working correctly as the info in the "RRDB Import.txt" file needed to be linked to the system data in the FL files. The only way to link them is by using the system names. If the system names were changed (excluding casing and amount of spaces) then they will no longer be linked and the RRDB Differences button won't show.

In the test version 23.5, the RRDB indexes were moved to the system data area in the FL files. It seems to work better except there is one problem. Other instances accessing the FL need to be at 23.5 (or above). Versions below 23.5 don't know about the RRDB indexes in the FL files so they will not be written to the FL files causing loss of the RRDB indexes. I think this way of storing them is much better than in the "RRDB Import.txt" file.

The bottom line is: Other instances of PS using the FL need to be at 23.5 (or above) for the RRDB Differences feature to work.

Probably to late for the OP here now, but for others with pre- 23.5 versions,,,

If the rrdb file is in the Proscan directory, and the button is greyed out, try right clicking on the file, do properties, then previous versions. I was successful at getting most of mine back from a copy that was in a Windows System Restore point.
