RS Pro 164 scanner for BSO

Hello I found an reasonable priced RS Pro 164 scanner on eBay and im considering purchasing it. I was wondering would it be a good fit to listen to police/fire transmissions for BSO, FLPD, and Sunrise PD. It also should be coming w/ a 800mhz antenna, i don't know if that would be beneficial to hearing the audio clearer or not. I guess what im asking is that would i still be able to listen to BSo and Fort Lauderdale PD scanner audio w/ the 164, considering I live in Laurderhill/Sunrise area which is7 or so miles away give or take. The 164 should work for you since most of the system is analog. Only Dania Fire/EMS and Hollywood PD and Fire/EMS are digital at the current time. Of course others could go digital. When I was at Port Everglades in January I heard quite a bit sitting on the cruise ship waiting to leave and waiting to disembark.

With the BSO radio system, like many others, it isn't the proximity of your location with regards to the city your trying to listen to, it is what county tower you are closest to as a high majority of those agencies operate off the simulcast system that transmit off of multiple towers at the same time.
