Thank you - may have saved me the trouble. I'll check out the scan quality on the downloads, see how they look (and see if they need to be done better. A quick look seems to have them coming out pretty good, tho.)

I just found them and a bunch of other goodies here:
One thing Bill Cheek was adamant about was also having the Service Manual for your Pro-2004/5/6 scanner (which I have) before attempting to mod it, I'm sure those are readily available online now also. ... Thanks for the mod books PDFs, great finds. Now I won't need to drag mine out if I get a wild hair for nostalgia modding again. 😆!!!

Those will be coming as well - I have at least two of the three kicking around here somewhere, as .pdf files...

The 2004 is one of my all time favorite scanners and nothing or nobody can convince me to sell it!
Same here, my 2004 was my main scanner for 19 years, until my state police went to P25 in 2007. I also like to remember when in 1995 that my state police went to analog trunking and I was able to follow them to the 800 MHz band. They could run but they couldn't hide form my Pro-2004.

For me in L.A, the older 2006 & 2042 tapped work great for LAPD P25 and still used them pretty much daily. One at home and one at my office.

Do have digital scanners but prefer the older models at least for non trunk/simulcast p25.

BTW: my 99¢ displays are almost here, so time to replace the bad ones soon.

@Paco-Jerte I was wondering if you listen to any Phase II with your tapped scanners? Because even though I have 4 Phase II scanners, I also have several Pro197/WS1065 ones and I know that they can output discriminator data through their PC/IF port (I do this all the time and run Pro96Com on them). If you have any Phase II in your area you could try it on your 106. I don't know much about DSD but wouldn't mind to go to the trouble if I knew it works.

Got the panels this week and installed the ice blue on one 2006 that had no light left.
Also found a white panel I purchased a while back in my stash and installed it to see how it would look on a different 2006 I have.

1jpg - 2006 ice blue
2jpg - 2006 white

Personally I like the white look over the blue. Will keep them both as they are now.
The ice blue is not bad either, the blue is not as dark as some I've seen here. Looks OEM

total cost per scanner with tax and shipped free $1.40 for the ice blue ones

I tried something different with this 2006, removed the EL strip and installed strip LED's. Different look but the display is easy to see.

Please attach a picture. My 2006 have an almost dead EL panel so I will need to fix that and LED might be a better solution but those are probably low voltage so will need a voltage regulator?
