Just received RSPdx-R2 today and got it paired with SDRconnect and a W6LVP loop.
Started poking around the bands, then decided to start looking at some settings.
Now, this may not seem like much to some of you, but this about knocked me out of my chair.
I found NHK WORLD RADIO JAPAN out of Issoudon, France. That's not the big thing, but I was pleased with that....
I decided to try out the Noise Reduction switch, HOLY COW!
I recorded it to share, 44 sec recording, switched it on and off a couple times.
S9 with some fading. When it faded it got a little muffled/digital sounding....but dang.
Quite a difference from the OLD SDRPlay2!
This is my first time with Audacity too, hope it works for you.

This thing is going to be F-U-N.

It's the normal issue with noise reduction, if there's too much noise it will also strip off some of the voice audio so it becomes impossible to hear what they say, that you can do with the noise reduction off and let your brain do the filtering. It's more useful in the volmet file with only a very low noise level, but then you don't really need the noise reduction. I've never heard a noise reduction that actually improves the voice quality, it always gets worse.

It can be tiresome to listen to noise but can be equally bad listening to a more robotic voice where some syllables are muted.

Yes, it definitely degrades the weaker singles. But, I was impressed at how well it cleaned up the noise. SDR connect is a different animal than Uno, will take some getting used to.
Not overly fond of how they set thing up all the drop down selections.
This RSPdxR2 blows the Play 2 out of the water though.

With SDR software this seems to be self-inflicted. I don't know if it's a lack of a reasonable audio passband or a failure in equalization, but local weather which sounds fine on any radio I own is quickly fatiguing when I listen to it with SDRconnect.

I use SDRConsole that I like better than Uno and voice audio quality seems better than any other programs I've tested and the noise reduction can be set to a low value that doesn't do any harm to voice quality.
