RTL-SDR Sample Rate Calculations

Hi there,

I have a R820T2 dongle, and I'm wondering how to calculate all available sample rates the dongle will accept up to 2.4 MHz. Is there a simple formula? Or is the dongle pre-programmed with an enumerated list of sample rates to accept?

If you use gqrx in Linux, when you launch it and select your hardware device it will give you a pulldown menu of sample rates for that device. However, not all of the available rates may work in other programs such as op-25.

The sample rates are dictated by the RTL2832U chip, not the tuner chip.

The RTL2832U can sample from two ranges ...

225001 to 300000 and 900001 to 3200000.

Pick any number that lies in either of those two ranges.
