Hello All

I am using a Uniden 996P with the 4 countywide control frequency programmed and the TIDs for West Sac! Within West Sac I pickup radio traffic fine within W Sac with the exception of a few dead spots for the most part. The issue I have is when I head out of West Sac I lose West Sac traffic within a mile or two, this has been the case since Sacramento regional radio communications system went P25 I program using freescan but suspect I am doing something very wrong!

Any help from the smartest people on the internet would be greatly appreciated
James in West Sacramento

The smartest people on the internet are in California. I suggest that you click on Report and request that your thread be moved to the California forum. There will be a lot of members in your area who will be able to answer your questions. If you attach your FreeSCAN file, I will be happy to take a look at it. You will need to zip the file to be able to attach it. Click on Attach files and open the zipped file.

The SRRCS is now a Simulcast system (it wasn't when they first put it on the air). As a result, the ONLY scanners that can properly receive the system are the SDS-100 (hand-held) and SDS-200 (base) models. There are other receiver options, but not scanners.

I had been listening to the P25 system on my PSR-500 just fine until after they turned off the analog system. I had to make the switch. The thing is so many other systems are this way too, such as Roseville, that it's really the only way to go if you want to monitor. We should be happy that we still can monitor as so much stuff has not only gone digital, but also employs encryption.

While I have all the sites programmed, I get virtually all of the traffic from Site 012. Keep in mind that all conversations are not on all sites. Site 012 does not mean a single tower location, it is actually many tower locations operating on the same 4 control channels.
