I'm sure they will find dead spots in buildings. Many radio systems struggle with indoor coverage, heck cell phones struggle with this every day, lol. I have a buddy that works buildings and grounds and told me there are some in building bi-directional systems being installed to help public safety. Without knowing any details, I'm thinking the system is new, and covering a large area, including many large buildings, and they will continue to work to solve coverage problems, but lets face it, 100% coverage would be pretty unlikely, it's radio ;)

Just found a new site which might be a better answer than that. New Site added to SaiaNet - Site 23 - UB South Campus - Kimball Hall. I just submitted it, waiting for it to be added to the DB.

I'm hearing it's not at Kimball, but at North campus, Cooke Hall. I'm also being told that their Syracuse site is online, but I can't confirm that. Maybe someone out that way can take a listen.

The one frequency listed for that site has two FCC licenses, one at the One Seneca Tower (listed on the license as HSBC Center) and 1 down in Catt County.
So if it's at either UB campus, it doesn't seem to be licensed there.

451.2500 C
451.4250

I'll submit this to the DB

It was on Saia's website

apparently it changed, because when I submitted it, it said Kimball Tower. It was identifying as 171-23 Connect Plus. 171 = SaiaNet, TG's consistent and audible on the Lancaster and N Buffalo sites as well. Saia's website said 23 is Kimball so I went for it. Now it says Cooke Hall..... so....they moved it? at least that what their website says. regardless, the site is active and on Saia Net. They FCC license to go with it......now thats a different story.... that I don't know

Around 27 miles or so. The ridge (and towers) at Makyes Rd is fairly high up relative to Syracuse and areas to the North.

Pretty respectable coverage. andyk62990 posted a link to some coverage maps. I'm still looking through them, but impressive coverage for DMR.

Their website has a decent amount of useful information for people like us. Another strange thing I've noticed with TRS license around here, FM Communication (Kenwood dealer) and Saia Communications (Motorola dealer) have some same frequencies licensed for use on their systems. Ive found stuff running NXDN on a Saia trunked license and Con+ running on stuff licensed to FM. Because of that, I take the FCC database as a tool, rather than gospel, at least around here. Its gonna steer me probably in the right direction, but like I said, I found stuff that doesn't necessary jive with it.

There is a ton of unconfirmed/unsubmitted info I've gotten in the buffalo area. A lot of it is FM Communications stuff, or at least what I believe to be theirs. But their website isn't as helpful as Saia's is.

as mentioned in the article , BNIA - CFR - went to 400 mhz , for better interop communications , which makes sense , off the 800 trunking , does anyone know the 400 freq.

It’s on the SaiaNet Con+ MotoTRBO system... so not a specific frequency, just a specific talk group

Looking at the Saia website, maps. I continue to be amazed at their coverage. Would like to test it to see how it really works. They say it can to tracking, texting, SCADA, centralized dispatch, as well as voice. Pretty nice system.

Saia's TRS's are pretty nice, in my experience. Never used their SaiaNet TRBO System, but if its anything like their LTR Passport system, what they say what you read is probably pretty right.

Slightly off topic, but when I used it for work before, I was in Rochester, talking back to my Dispatch in the City of Buffalo. I was pretty impressed by it then. But that was on the Passport system. Had some dead spot, but generally speaking, most of the area we were able to use a portable. The time that I was using it (3 years), I can only recall of one time that the TRS went down, and it was only for about a few hours until they got whatever it was fixed.

Mercy Flight is on SaiaNet, and you can hear their units all over the area on it. Helicopters landing at Strong, tons of private (user to user) calls on it. There is a decent amount of traffic on their system, and a ton of TG's that I haven't been able to put my thumb on who it is yet. Its got a decent amount of more TG's than published

Where did you used to work? (Just curious) I have also noticed many services or TG not listed. I may spend a little time to see if I can identify any new users.

I have been monitoring FM communications trunk system, and not hearing a lot of traffic. I'm really interested in the wide area aspect of these systems and how they get large area coverage. The database shows 3 sites covering 7 counties, and Saia has 18 sites covering only 12 counties. This seems disproportional, and maybe inaccurate based on Saia coverage maps. What is FM doing different? Do they also have coverage maps? Are the database county listings, for each dealer, more or less random and not really representative of actual system performance? These large errors make me question the overall accuracy of the database, and ultimately it's value.

Stumbled across this today while scanning - 424.525, showing as Site 23. Check of the FCC Database....WQCE961, pending application for adding a site for UB's tower. So...they must have moved it? And are clearly already transmitting on it
