also, on a side note, related to this though, Saia is spitting out their network repeater maps right now. I have it set to raw recording, im not good at figuring out the whole dsdplus thing, but I know someone around is, as would probably find the raw recording of it useful to be played back through, its 5m34s long....

I may be misunderstanding, but I think their maps are on their web site.Do other dealers have coverage maps also? I'm curious how all of these systems stack up.

Stumbled across this today while scanning - 424.525, showing as Site 23. Check of the FCC Database....WQCE961, pending application for adding a site for UB's tower. So...they must have moved it? And are clearly already transmitting on it

I'm hearing BPD on 424.4625 and 424.7750 also.

Question for the experts, how do these wide area radio systems connect the different sites together? Is the information in the data sent over each channel? Just curious.

One more question, maybe for administrators. In the Trunk radio database, each multi-county system has a number of counties listed. What is the coverage criteria for those counties to be listed? Seems like some of these systems cover much more than the number listed.

yes they are..... but, the system has been spitting out, for lack of better terms, all the system information, called a "network repeater map", this map gets decoded and you get all your frequencies and lcn's and whatever else..... my computer for some reason doesn't wanna let me create a log file, so I just recorded the raw audio in DSDPlus and sent it off to an admin to see if he can decode it. its giving off all the information about the system that we would want.

Im no TRBO expert..... but im 99% sure its all IP based, now how the network is layed out.... thats what im not sure of. Im assuming a mix of microwave links and private network, or maybe both for redundancy? just my speculation that would make the most sense to me.

as you should be. Buffalo PD is simulcasted onto the SaiaNet system (by who, idk, but Buffalo PD is not using TRBO per say, all the Radio ID's are the same compared to monitoring their P25 channel). What your listening to is a specific channel on the connect plus system. If you just monitor a voice channel, you'll just get a whole bunch of random traffic from the system. Kinda like monitoring an analog channel on the Saia LTR Passport system, you monitor, well say, 424.5750 in the Buffalo area, and you'll hear a lot of Rural/Metro dispatch, followed by some garbage trucks, followed by a concrete delivery company, all just mixed together.

I'm hearing much more chatter on the UB channel (505801) than in the past. Also, I see 507301 has Allegheny Co ambulance on it, but I hear it scrambled. How are others decoding that, or how did someone determine they were on that channel ID?

Well, the 505801 is just a patch from their UHF conventional channel. From what im seeing, most of their stuff is coming thru the patch still (same radio ID for multiple users), I haven't gotten anything on 507301 that I can recall. But what I think is strange that I've noticed is that on 500801, on nights and weekends, it sounds like a southern tier ambulance service. Just getting bits and pieces of the conversation, however, day time it sounds like a wheelchair service and off hours, an ambulance.

Now for 507301, are you monitoring that on a scanner or SDR using DSD?. If your using DSD, it would show you if its encrypted, and if its Basic or Enhanced Privacy. I know I got a few hits over the last month on some various talkgroups that were using Basic Privacy.

I'm hearing 505801 as digital, with an occasional analog patch (can tell by the quality, and there is a common ID for the patch). Using an SDR / DSD. Showing Enhanced (I believe).

Someone pretty large is hopping in the system, having been able to figure it out because its the Saia system techs doing radio check, emergency button checks etc.

TG 506500
TG 506505
TG 506507
TG 506511 (update* techs referring to this as Channel 11)

Just noticed them popping up today, maybe its the anticipated AMR switch over? just an idea, I've seen a good chuck of their crews running XPR's lately

505801 is in the clear, unless its part time encryption, in the past and today, its in the clear. I notice if I get a bad signal in DSD it shows enc, happens mostly for me monitoring P25 with the gain turned up

TG 506500, TG 506505, TG 506507, TG 506511, and 506515, I'm hearing what sounds like garbage pick up. Maybe some DPW, or large contractor? Modern, AW, BFI, etc.?

Modern Waste is/was a Saia Passport user.... maybe that's them? Ill try to compare to their Passport, and maybe they stopped using those TG's and moved to Con+

Whoever got all those submission to the DB, great work! Thats a lot! I had a lot of those on my scratch pad with just question marks or describing their activity that was going on it, some I had an idea who it might be, but that's good stuff!
