Hi, Is anybody else having problems receiving police systems on the Salem County Trunked System?
I can get the Fire and Rescue responses on the system trunked system, but for the most part its very quiet now.

Did something change for the Salem County System?

I know Camden County went online with the new 700 MHZ system but didn't hear anything about the other counties yet....

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 7_0_4 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/537.51.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/7.0 Mobile/11B554a Safari/9537.53)

Nothing has been filed with the FCC for Salem County 700 MHz,I think someone posted something in another thread about them going to it in the future.as for the other counties in south jersey Ocean County is moving forward with their system and Burlington County should be starting soon as posted in another thread.

I have noticed weaker than normal signal strength in the last few weeks when I monitor this system from my work location in Logan twp, Gloucester county.

Thanks for all your help guys. I'm using a Uniden BCT15 scanner with just the stock antenna.

Whats weird is the fire response on district 2 come in pretty strong, but thats it.
If the signal levels are lower then normal, then I guess that would justify why I'm not receiving them, its just odd the district 2 fire response comes strong.

I will try reprogramming the system into an empty bank to see if that makes any difference but it looks like all my freqs are correct. I'm also having the same issue on my handheld (BC246T) so it must be a signal strength issue.

Thanks again for all your help guys.....

I noticed last night that they were transmitting dispatch on the south jersey net (154.265). I have heard them do this on occasion before. There trunk system is coming in full bars this morning but very quiet. I know that district 5 has been using the county wide frequency (501.1625) instead off the trunk.

Salem County is in the process of making some changes. They were having some equipment problems (I think possibly a lightning strike some time back) which I know affected their Pittsgrove tower. These equipment issues are probably why you're getting a weak signal in Cumberland County. As of right now, Fire and EMS units in the Pittsgrove area are using conventional Fire/EMS Channels 10 and 11 (501.2375 and 501.2125 respectively). Pennsville, Carneys Point, and Penns Grove Police have moved to the conventional police repeater (501.1625).

The plan is that everything is to be moved back to conventional, this is only the beginning of that process. That was in the works before the equipment problems showed up.

Tower sites have also been added in Pedricktown, Pennsville, and Quinton for improved coverage.

I'll submit changes to the database as more changes take place.

Alternating Control Channel!

I think I found out why some days the system does not come in at all for me! I programmed my scanner through Proscan, and selected the "Control Channel only" option. In the Radio Reference Database it does not have 501.7375Mhz listed as a control channel. It seems as though they have been using that as a control channel every few days!

Maybe we can get an admin to add that as a alternate Control Channel!

Just an update, from what I am hearing the switchover date for the system to go back to conventional is February 4th.
