Most listeners are only interested in what is known. They're interest is specific, Police, Fire, ect. "ID Search" will display/stop on everything that is active. Example, if I am listening to South Davis County, and "ID Search" is on, I will be hearing traffic from all over the state, not just Davis Co. If "ID Scan" is on, then I will only hear what is programmed in that Department. (My focus is normally new/unknowns, so I "Avid" all the knowns and "ID Search" for new.)
