FleetNet initially went down last night provincewide for "maintenance" from 2100-2400 hrs. Today, Swift Current area Fire and EMS have lost FleetNet entirely and are relying on phones for dispatching. According to dispatch, there are FleetNet problems provincewide today.

We are now seeing what we all knew would happen. FleetNet is slowly, but surely crashing.

Still down in Swift Current. Unknown status for other parts of the province, but the same can be assumed.

Things are starting to come back online, however there are still areas without service.

no sim fall back?

So does the Sask FN VHF system not have a fallback like the Ontario system? Maybe they need to fix that?

SaskTel Fleetnet is 800Mhz EDACS Networked Standard. the Vhf system, PPSTN, is operated by the RCMP and SaskPower, and is P25.

There is no VHF FleetNet system. There is SaskTel FleetNet EDACS system on 800 MHz. The new VHF system is P25 and is not FleetNet. It is the Provincial Public Safety Telecommunications Network. Two totally different systems.

Both are still in use. FleetNet is scheduled to shut down forever come December 2010. The VHF P25 system/PPSTN is brand new within the last few years and it is still in the process of being built through out the province. Fire, EMS, Municipal policing, government agencies/ministries, Highway Transport Patrol, Conservation Officers, all have yet to migrate over.
