Save replay audio with Proscan

My understanding was that when you enable replay (not record) on the SDS 100 it keeps the audio file in a folder called inner_rec that you can find when hooked up to the micro ssd chip. I thought you could then save that file so you had a copy of the latest replay file. But that does not seem to be the case. I don't know if Proscan offers a way to access the replay audio, or if it just is erased after you listen to it.

I know this question has been asked before, but I have not seen a satisfactory answer in my searches.

Don't know the answer on that, but if you set up Trunking Recorder, and import calls from your scanner, you can play back anything at any time (that your scanner received) based on how long you retain recordings in Trunking Recorder.

You can access those recordings as long as you have Set Replay Duration set to anything other than Off.
But... the audio files only remain in the inner_rec folder for the length of time you set in the replay duration menu.
The files are automatically deleted when the replay duration time is reached for each file.
So basically, if you just heard something and didn't have normal recording turned on but did have Replay recording on, you need to plug in a USB cable and put the scanner into mass storage mode quickly and then grab your files with explorer or whatever you use for a file manager because they will go away when the timer expires.
I've done this a few times on the SDS and x36HP models. They all work the same.
I never used recording with the HP1/2 models so I don't know if this trick works with those models.

The files will not delete automatically just working with the files on the SD card. The delete command is a function of the scanner.

You can. Connect your SDS100 to your computer (Press "E" when prompted to put scanner in Mass Storage Mode) It should show up as a removable drive in Windows Explorer. Navigate to said folder and copy it to your computer's hard drive. You can use Universal Scanner Audio Player to play the mp3s contained within & display all tagged info

I was going to try to explain this as well as you just did but didn’t have the energy to type this much.

To the OP, as you can see from @kruser’s explanation it can work but having to stop scanning and put scanner in mass storage mode makes it something you aren’t going to want to do very often.

But like I said above, the files are automatically deleted if the Replay Duration time has passed since the inner_rec files were created.
So one needs to grab them before that timer deletes them. That timer has a max time of 240 seconds which is the default time I believe.

Thanks all. I work from home and now have my scanner running all the time. While I can get some dispatch and operational police, fire, and EMS I also get the local University, public works and school bus traffic from the local counties. I've heard some doozies over the last week or so. It's nice to be able to replay them, but to save them I've played the scanner into the phone. Maybe I should just set it to Record, but I'm not sure I want to store a bunch of mostly garbage filling up my SD card.

You're right. I'd forgotten Proscan has a recording function. That sounds like it might be what I need.
