So I have profile with a set of favorites, setup as I do. I wanted a second profile using the same info, then remove what I don't want.
I saved the current profile, called it A.
I then saved another profile as B, using A as the default.
I open B and edit it, then saved it.
The stuff I deleted on B is now missing on A when I open it.
How can I save a profile and not lose data?

Not how it works. Favorites are common to all profiles, so don’t do what you are suggesting.

You can create a second profile and select which FLs are downloaded or monitored to scanner in each profile but don’t go deleting FLs … or they will be gone from all profiles.

Ok, I read your post better all the way through. You have already screwed up. Best you can do is read the scanner back into Sentinel and hopefully recover what you deleted.

Kind of why I dislike Sentinel. We should be able to save each profile separably. Like every other radio programmer software I ever used. You save SDS 200, save SDS 100 with each having it's own saved file not an all inclusive profile having to select what is downloaded or monitored for different radios.

If nothing else a big Warning Box that pops up when you try to delete a Favorite saying "This Favorites List will no long be accessible to any other Profile using it. Continue Y/N?"

Sort of like when one does a Clear User Data.

So, a second profile will automatically include all FL’s included in the first profile? The OP had created his first profile (A) and wanted to start a second profile (B). He started out by duplicating A and intended on dropping certain FL’s from B. But he learned omitting any FL from B also applied to A.

Ok, if I understand the issue, the above should be correct? If so, we now know NOT to omit/remove an FL from ANY profile because that FL will be removed from any and all previously created profiles. (And inversely, any added FL will now show up on the first profile?) What about creating a second identical profile, renaming it and simply “Avoid”ing those FL’s in the second profile, not deleting them, you don’t want to monitor? Would the Avoid show up I. The first profile too? I haven’t tried it yet but it’s an easy task to do so and answer my own question… just hoping it’s already been tried and been answered.

I created a second profile and gave it a different name for a friend and it took. I called my first profile Bill’s profile and the second Ron’s profile. Ron’s profile included all the FL’s as Bill’s (at that time I didn’t realize I was abiding by the constraint all FL’s were to be included in the new profile.) Ron had moved to Florida from Ct. He was spending half the year up north and the other half down south. So I added a few more FL’s consisting of Florida data and saved it with my programming files in the same single Sentinel program I have installed on my laptop. But now my profile, although still listed under Profiles, gave me a note the file couldn’t be located.

I wondered if, and because I was programming two different scanners, both BCD325P2’s using Butel software, I shouldn’t have a second copy of the Butel software on my laptop, the second with a different name. And keep both programs resident on my laptop where I could simply program each scanner with what I had intended to. That way each profile would not interfere with the other. Is this possible? I hesitate to try this as changing the Butel programming software name may get me in trouble by interfering with the first-plus I’m not all that sure I can even change the name to begin with… I don’t know how I should go about this. But if this is possible I would end up with two identical copies of Butel, one named “Bill’s BCD325P2” and the other “Ron’s BCD325P2”.

I’d ask “What do you think?” But a better first question is “Am I making any sense?”

Okay, the software uses 1 favorite's list for ALL PROFILES. As new FL gets created, it adds to that list.
If I delete a FL is goes away for all. I have may have 80 FL items. I don't use secondary layers in the FL.
My thought was removing all Trunk FL for a scanner I was programing and leave the trunking to the sds 100/200.
that's where I lost the info, and yes I have the scanner to back it up.
Since Sentinel wont the user to save or open to a different folder, it becomes the one default folder.
One option is the Avoid check box while editing for each trunk system, thus not losing the info, or use 2 different computers.

Have you considered just setting Download to Off for those Favorites Lists you do not want to be in a given scanner?

In other words by setting Download On, you are picking and choosing which Favorite Lists are programmed to the scanner associated with Profile A.
