This past weekend a friend asked how he could listen to RR Feeds with an iPod or other such devices. Any app suggestions would be appreciated.

The 5-0 app works great on both my iPhone and iPad! But don't iPods just play mp3 music?

Action Scanner has improved a lot. You can now run it in the background scanning multiple feeds.

The iPod Touch does everything an iPhone does except make phone calls, and there are workarounds for that.

5-0 Radio Works just fine on iPOD

Travis,
Thanks for posting my query. (Decided I would register!) And thanks for all of the replies. I loaded the 5-0 Radio "free" version into the iPOD to give it a try. I am listening to Clark County Sheriff, Rural Fire and OES with no problems.

As observed in an earlier post, the iPod is a Wi-fi device. I find it completely convenient where I live - to use Wi-fi even when moving through town. We have Bright House Networks Hot Spots in town and the coverage is pretty descent. Entire shopping centers and high density commercial areas have coverage for free. I do have to log into the system using my Bright House account.

I appreciate all of the responses and suggestions. I just upgraded to the "no ads" version and it monitors in the background while the iPod does other tasks.

Thanks again.

I vote for action scanner.
It is the only app then scans four feeds at a
Time like a four channel scanner.

There are also four banks so you can
Switch between four banks with four
Channels in each bank.

Travis, thanks for starting this thread. I just got a brand new Ipad 3 today, and will try some of those suggested apps on there.

Action Scanner

Frederick (N2PQQ),

Thanks for the vote. I will check out Action Scanner for precisely the features you have recommended. So far, 5-0 has worked pretty well. I was able to add my own feeds that were not in its database. It listens in the background while doing other tasks on the little iPod. But just one feed at a time.

As far as choosing one over another, I am just browsing and find that each application has its merits and detractors. Luckily, they are not expensive and it is relatively easy to give em a try.

Thanks for the comments and help.

Cheers/73

5-0 scanner is good, but it doesn't support alpha tags. Police Radio is also good, but it will nuke your battery life.
