Hey guys I was curious as to if you could bring a radio in a baseball game? And if so what are some good things to look for. I would be going to a Detroit Tigers Game at Comerica Park. I know that there is a page that has a bunch of Comerica Park freqs, but I was curious if anybody else had any that they have heard that are not in there.

Thanks,

Phil

I'm in the same boat.

When I <strike>go</strike> get dragged to any of the local sports games with my YL Ihavea tendancy to listen to the local RF environment more than I listen to the game. My camera is actually first priority, though.

As for the umps, I was of the impression they used a combination of Digital Spread Spectrum or Encrypted headsets for the reaon that they'd be difficult at best to monitor.

Thanks guys. Here are some freqs I picked up that night.

Comerica Park ( Detroit Tigers )

( Along with these conventional Freqs I also found one or two Motorola trunked systems but I was not sure of they were anything for the Tiger's Game or just nearby city businesses )

451.9125 FM Food Stands

462.2250 FM Sounded like people outside of the park possibly directing traffic and taking care of trash

259.7500 FM This one was interesting maybe wireless mic, it was encrypted.

409.5500 FM Encrypted

419.2125 FM? Sounded like Digital Burst of data. Maybe some of that Ump spread spectrum stuff.

424.7600 FM Encrypted

452.2625 FM Security ( This one was my best catch of the night, it is the freq for security dispatch for the staff who wear orange jackets and tan trousers that you can find at the bottom and top of sections. I believe that it is also the same people who clean off your seats when you show them your tickets.)

Since when to baseball umpires have radios or one way links? Not to my knowledge.

Soccer refs have radios or at least a 1 way rx only link.

Umm, security, valet parking, food vendors, media and medical but could not seem to find the ump's rf link. Lots of wireless mic audio links. :)
The ump doesn't have a transceiver unless it's for instant replay (Which is rarely used in baseball anyway)

Football is a different beast altogether though.....

Cheers & 73 :D

Forgot about this thread...Anyhow. No ump had a radio, (maybe a pager) I confirmed this as I work at a MLB ballpark on the side.

In case of instant replay they get on a phone line to the MLB NY office which reviews all replay situations and confirms the call. MLB gets all the video feeds and individual cameras from the venue sent to them thru dedicated a fiber system.

NFL ref's have a pager which can be pinged from the officials box to get them to a hard wire intercom system for whatever reason it may be. The pager system is portable and in the UHF band.

Pro Soccer (Football)...not sure how it works. I have only worked a few of those events so I cannot say for sure.

Just my .03

Seattle sports venues.

I took a Radio shack Pro97 to Safeco field years ago. I think it must have been around 2007,about a year after moving here. And I tried to monitor vendors and such. I couldn't find anything. Safeco field does have a trunked system, but it can't be monitored.(I just recently found that out) Seattle police use their trunked system . West dispatch, west tac. and a few other tac channels

Centurylink field. Sounders and Seahawks have their own trunked system that can be monitored. And SPD and SFD medics can be heard on the Seattle trunked system.

It's a shame that the Safeco field system can't be monitored. 81 home games would provide a lot of entertainment. :(

 according to this thread, someone is maping out the LCNs
http://forums.radioreference.com/wa...oring-activity-qwest-field-2.html#post1667588
which probably means they are listening to it.

Qwest/ now Century link and Safeco field are two different sports complexes with two different systems. I can monitor Century link. I cannot monitor Safeco as they're on a system that cannot be monitored.

Stavro, who said Safeco couldn't be monitored?

It's part of the same trunk as Qwest -- but we can't verify that until baseball season starts.

More than once I've had a scanner at Braves games. Listen to the stadium and APD/FD. Just never know what you can hear:D

I've brought a scanner and a MOTOTRBO radio into Nationals Park many times, and never had a problem. Even used them in plain sight.
