Finally got the null modem cable and computer is finding the 996XT just fine. Imported all the freq's from RR without issue.

Scanner is scanner but not stopping on anything. If I manually input a simplex 2m channel i.e. 146.550 and key my HT, the scanner responds with full audio. Same when entering local airport on 122.500 AM. If I leave it sit on the channel it hears just fine.

Put it in to scanning mode and nothing, not even the local trunked transit system, which my old PSR-410 heard just fine.

I realize the 996XT is leaps above, but is there anything obvious I could be missing?

Quick keys

EZ way - set 1 for each system - or even set them all to #1 and enable it.

Then set all the quick keys off except those with something.

Can use the global quick key screen in Freescan and set the command for it when uploading.

- not perfect way - but gets you running while you learn

Some trunk systems, VHF and UHF typically need tables as well as frequencies to monitor them correctly.

How about Search Mode as opposed to Scan Mode. Anything?

I'm going to assume that you want to listen to Ontario FleetNet Zone 2. Get a hold of Freescan software
and we can carry on with getting you up and running with that system.

Yeah,

I uploaded the Bell Fleetnet freq's, Everything seems to be there. Guess I just need to learn the scanner.

This includes the Custom Table as well, right? (Base: 141.015, Offset: 380, Spacing: 15.0)

Are you using Freescan? If so it will do the tables. If not - what are you using.

I would appreciate any help to get setup with the OPP etc, all freqs on RR. I don't think Kingston Police are copyable.

Okay, doing some reading here on the Quick keys. I believe at some point last night when uploading to the 996XT from Freescan, I assigned some groups to the quick keys. Not even sure what the quick keys do as I have just had the scanner a few days. It is possible I assigned the Bell Fleetnet to one of the keys. Assuming I may have done this, how do I activate for reception? Do I just simply press the Quick Key 1, 2 or 3 on the front panel?

On my previous PSR-410 it was simply a matter of assigning a group to a particular number, and the group could be skipped or not simply by pushing the appropriate front panel button.

Anything like that on the 996XT?

Hi group,

Just to close the loop, it was the Quick keys. I reset the scanner, imported the trunking frequencies again and all is well.

I think a little reading is in order! Just for fun I installed PRO96 and find it easier to navigate than Freescan.
