SDS100/SDS200: Scanning a frequency range

Hello,

I've tried searching without luck. I'm probably not wording it correctly. I recently purchased an SDS100 and I have been learning and trying to set up default scans. I would like to use the sentinel software to add a frequency range to my favorites. I have figured out how to search a frequency range (i.e. 1.25 meter ham band) on the unit and assign a key to it. However I can not figure out how to add that same range to my favorites list using sentinel so I can load it into the unit and have it automatically scan the 1.25 meter band along with everything else. I see there is a "Ham" selection in favorites but it only scans a single call frequency in each band.

What am I missing or doing incorrectly?

Think you mean custom searches. Have a look at the easy read Sentinel manual.

Thanks for the link. I figured out how to use the custom search feature. I assigned a key to it and use the "function 1" combo to access it. However, when I use this the only thing that gets scanned are the frequencies defined in the custom search i.e. the 1.25 meter band. I want to add these frequencies to a standard scan list. Not sure how to set it up in sentinel to scan from 222.000-225.000 along with everything else on my favorites list.

Menu-Set Scan Selection- Select Lists To Monitor- Change Search With Scan from Off, to On.
I think I tried what you're suggesting. It enables scanning all 9 of the custom slots, not just the bands I want. For now, I just want to add the 1.25 and 2 meter band not the entire spectrum.

Thanks for helping.

I am pretty sure each of those custom searches can be toggled on and off by, while its scanning the custom, by pressing keys 0 - 9. It's also helpful to prepend the corresponding number ( 0 - 9 ) to the name tag.

Thank you for your suggestions. I will play around with it and see if I can make it do what I want. Maybe that's uniden's provision for scanning a range. Just seems counter intuitive , it would be so much simpler to be able to add a range to the favorites. I really appreciate your help.

They let you add "a range" (10 ranges) to the scanner which can be set to "search with scan" meaning you can scan ranges in addition to scanner scanning full database, favorites, both or separately. Any combo you want.

Or you can use excel. Enter your first freq in the first cell, then decide what spacing you want to use, add it to the first freq but enter it into the second cell. Then select both cells, and drag down until you reach the desired end freq. Just copy the freqs into a favorites list and write to the scanner.
