Just put in a favorites list in my friends new SDS100 and Baltimore County won't Trunk. I looked at the frequencies from what I downloaded in my new SDS100 a few weeks ago which by the way works fine and they added more frequencies to the trunk system to both north and south tower and noticed also that my SDS100 P25 NAC setting was NAC Search. Now the update has NAC 382. who ever updated the database changed something and now Baltimore County won't trunk.

No idea if this is still correct, but was 2 months ago, try removing all but the Active CC frequency from your site programming.. (856.2125 if DB is correct) this MIGHT help, along with trying different locations for giggles (If using the ducky).

It was my understanding that the 1.1 North Site is very small and only covers some Northern fringes of the county, 1.2 South carries the bulk of the systems traffic, could it be your hung up on the 1.1 which just doesn't carry all the traffic? IDK just a thought..

I can receive the Baltimore County system near the AACo Northern District station using both the SDS100 and a RTLSDR - does not seem like anything has changed wrt the system. The cch in use is 856.2125.

Adding that the Baltimore County P25 simulcast system has been notoriously difficult to receive satisfactorily with scanners - until the SDS series was released. Unication G4/G5 series pagers also do a great job on the system. The OP should consider returning / exchanging their 436 if possible, and buying a SDS100/200, or a Unication G4/G5 if they can afford the upgrade. Although the 436/536 is technically capable of decoding P25 systems, they are better with multicast systems vs. simulcast systems.

A datapoint I noticed today was the horrendous decode rate when monitoring the South control channel (although I was on the border between AA and Baltimore counties) while the RSSI was adequate - which is indicative of simulcast distortion / LSM affects.

I live less than 5 miles to the south of BCo and the G4 does "okay." Sometimes it does well with BCo but often it is pretty poor decode.

I don't know where you live in AACo, but the tower site that covers Baltimore County south of the city is in Halethorpe, with sites in Sparrows Point and Catonsville to the east and west. The Halethorpe site is omni, but the antennas are only 39m up - not a particularly tall tower - thus I would not expect coverage too far into an adjacent jurisdiction.

382 is the correct site NAC for the South simulcast cell, as of today when I checked it. Also, my SDS100 worked correctly, and it is set to "NAC Search" on this system. Note that the "NAC Search" value for the P25 NAC setting means that the radio essentially ignores the site NAC.

New BCD436HP, with system setting from database, not getting anything from Baltimore County? Help??
Do you live in the city or the county? Have you tried another listening location? Sometimes moving a few feet within a house or apartment makes a difference, and you should probably invest in a Remtronix antenna specially designed for the 700/800 band.

And one more thing for the OP to check is to make sure the Service Types he wants to hear are enabled.

Worked from my residence in the County to my employer in the City with no problems on my 436 this morning, I have the configuration from the database and re-downloaded from RR Database again this morning and programmed the 436 with no issues.

Just an update. Did a Database update reloaded and now works fine. Thanks to all.

Don't worry about the additional frequencies. For a Motorola system you only need to enter the control channel and alternates. If possible, listen to the South system. The North system has nothing from the East Division and also lacks other traffic. The control channels and alternates listed on Radio Reference are correct for both sites. You will notice that the control channel is in red and the alternates are in blue. The NAC for the South Site is 382 and for the North Site is 381. Those codes are correct so you do not want to ignore them in the menu. Incidentally you have to enter all of the frequencies on a Harris system since any frequency can be used as a control channel.
