You mean 'pertaining', and I think the answer is no. Radar Detectors are another story, I think. I used to work in Tysons Corner, and drove every day for 2 years with a scanner and ham radios in the car. No trouble at all.

Yeah scanning anywhere in Virginia is perfectly legal unless it is in the furtherance of a felony (so if you do a big no-no and have a scanner its just another charge they'll throw at you...lol) As stated above radar dectectors are a completely different story. Along with DC Virginia is the only loctation that they are illegal currently.

take the 96 because I know that the Williamsburg/James City County/York County TRS is digital. That is one system you can listen too. Also Virginia STARS (State Police, etc.) There are also a lot of analog trunking systems down that way. Not sure exactly what you can pick up from Williamsburg so I will let people that listen down that way answer more.

Assuming you will connect to I-64 west from the CBBT, VA Beach, Norfolk, Hampton, Newport News and York/JCC/Williamsburg each have trunking systems which the 96 can monitor. You will also be passing nearby Norfolk NavBase and Langley AFB - both with digital 400 Motorola trunking systems. NavWeps Station and Ft Eustis are both ajacent to your route but conventional.

There are also several LTR business systems near your route including Williamsburg so you may want to bring the 97 also.

I have various p96 files which can easily be set for your route on this side of the Chesapeake Bay.

Also, one source for data is under my signature.
