I can’t put a mobile radio in my 2015 F-150, no room for a radio with the center shift. Check the thread on San Francisco switching to digital and there are people using the 996P2 and how it works.
IF you're far away I'd suggest this, at least for the city's P25 system: OpenMHz
Don't really like the sound of the 996P2 - not sure if it's simulcast distortion, bad codec implementation, or what.
They've been out of stock a while, but once you get past the programming quirks (that you need to do on a computer), the Bluetail P25RX works well. Has bluetooth so can play out your car stereo if you want. P25RX-II
