Looks like from your screenshot in Post #20 you have 3 separate sites (as outlined in post #19) programmed as 1 single site? These will need to be programmed as separate sites if you're within listening range to all of them. You can certainly tune to the control channels (which I indicated in red font) to determine which towers you're within range of

i cannot pickup Parke County with its frequencies loaded.

In the WS1065, the frequencies for sites in a system are programmed into a single list with a maximum of 32 frequencies. Only the control channel capable frequencies (the ones followed by a lower case "c") are needed for each site. With Multi-Site set to Roam for the system, only the site with the best signal will be scanned. To scan multiple sites, Multi-Site must be set to Stationary.

Give this file a try. You will be able to select sites by scan list. The Clinton site in Vermillion County, the Bridgeton site in Parke County, and the Terre Haute and Vigo County sites in Vigo County will be scanning when you upload the file to the scanner. Save the attached zipped file to your computer and extract. Open the extracted file with ARC500 and Upload to Scanner. Scan lists as follows:

SCAN LISTS:

1. VERM Newport

2. VERM Clinton

3. PARK Marshall

4. PARK Bridgeton

5. PARK DOC Rockvl

6. VIGO Terre Haute

7. VIGO Vigo County

Im thinking it is a possible antenna issue too
With my rig in the garage ( metal pole barn ) connected to a bangfu small external antenna I can only get Vermilion county if I bring my scanner in the house( brick ) and use the small telescopic antenna that came with it I can sometimes pick up Parke county… but i will try your setup tvengr

That file will make it easy to determine which sites are within range. You will be able to listen to the sites one at a time to check if you hear activity. You will see a "T" at the top of the scanner display if it is able to detect the control channel.

Seriously, there are many members here who appreciate the help everyone gives. These things aren't the old plug in a crystal and your off radios anymore. Give something to an engineer, they'll screw it up for sure. Overly complicated and super expensive to buy and use. I think that is the first thing they teach engineers in college, with the promise for lucrative payouts onward the more you know (and who you know). LOL

The scanner manufacturer's make a product based on what radio systems and transmissions are emitted....Transmitting systems have gotten more complicated as the need for better systems and more efficient use of the available bandwidth. The scanner market is a reacting and not the cause of scanners getting more complicated IMO.

I was involved in radio/electronics from the mid 60's, up until recent mini-strokes have limited my interest and participation. I wasn't asking a question, I was pointing out that if you give an engineer something to 'improve' or design, they will over complicate it (and from there on look out).

Dwell Auto(0) changed to 40 (4sec)
what the heck IS default dwell? I still wanted longer dwell.

observation that i have many discovered TG's found while landing upon wildcard! scanlist item "TG:wildcard!" for system HIWIN Hawaii wireless. I have locked out all Sites but one, doesnt change much if i select another, and i have tried no antenna at all to wrong band antenna, agc off, various atten On, but works best in hirise & sometimes no antenna connected at all. Display's top line while parking on TG:wildcard! shows is S, signal strength is max, boxedS turns to solidT, then when get audio shows D2. I am in a hirise
direct line of sight to one site up on mountain. Picking other sites like 0004 site1-38 <statewide> or Site: 1-04 <UNKNOWN> doesn't change anything. Seems site
0003 Honolulu2 (assumed by name would be best) isn't as good.

The BIG question comes from merely scanning all these saved talkgroups, i often do not hear anything even when i SKIP many so that only a few are scanned so as to not miss anything. In comparison, IF I PARK right on
"TG:wildcard!" via browse objects, go to "TG:wildcard!", press select, then i can see S+5bars full strength, S flashes to solid T as i hear many talkgroups just 1 at a time, mostly occupied by UNinteresting ones that transmit often (i.e.7128, 7952). If i want to hear just the "cool" TG, i have to likewise "park" on it & thats the only one i will be able to follow.

1. WHY am i more successful hearing activity on TG:wildcard! by sitting on only that 1 object than i am saving each TG in scanlist & skipping those i don't want to hear?
2. Is there any way to park on wildcard! AND exclude UNinteresting TG's to get what i want & really focus on say 6 TG's i already have found/saved? Scanning only doesn't work as well.

Ok i have more questions guys...tried adding what i think is my local GMA to my scanner but when it runs these my S drops to nothing and im not sure but i dont think im getting any traffic... using my VERM CO. Trunk system freqs..just keep trying?

Thanks Whiskey...i do have those freqs in and am recieving traffic nicely primarily on the 852.900 if i do the P25 and no squelch code..im running the CONV on this unit...where would i put this data that you sent me ...the 1(1) and 029 (1D)
