As for the patrol call signs, the first number is the shift (1 = graveyard, 2 = day watch, 3 = day midwatch, 4 = swing shift) and the last number is their beat assignment. For example 2L14 is a day shift, single officer unit assigned to Beat 14.
The city is divided into four patrol districts each having five beats.
City of Scottsdale - Police Districts for specific maps.
At large officers (with no specific beat assignment) are 30 and 40 series units, i.e. 4L45 is a swing shift single officer assigned to District 4. Patrol sergeants are 60 (District 1), 70 (District 2), 80 (District 3), and 90 (District 4) series, i.e. 3L73 is a day midwatch patrol sergeant in District 2.
