Well, here's one that was new to me but perhaps others here can comment.
Periodically we've all seen the threads as-to how to remove scratches from our displays and how to cover them to avoid this in the first place.
I saw somewhere recently that rubbing sugar cubes across the abraision seemed to work......
The writer reported that there was just enough abrasiveness to buff the plastic yet not scratch it.
Has anyone heard of this actually being a successful remedy?

PS--As I write this, it seems like you'd want the have the cube lower than the radio so that any particles falling off during the grind fall somewhere other than inside the radio.

mmmmm.......only sugar cubes I've seen were fairly coarse crystals and I'd not risk rubbing those on a piece of plastic screen

I'll still use Brasso for this purpose. It works great. Just put a drop or two on the scratch and rub with a small cloth in the area that is scratched. It has always worked for me.

I found some scratch removal wax at Wal-Mart. I don't remember what it was called but it was in a bright yellow bottle. It's just basically a car wax. Any decent liquid wax like that should work. All it does is polish the plastic. I used it on my Jeep soft top windows and it was a huge improvement. I used on a Motorola spectra display too and it returned it to almost perfect condition.

Brasso is good.
For fine scratches a little baking soda mixed with water to a fine paste works great also.
Just be sure to mask the keys and speaker.

Nu Finish car polish works super! It's in a bight orange bottle, available at most auto parts stores.

I think I just used up the last of that on the car (after 12 years of the bottle sitting in the garage) on the car, darn but thanx.

I use glass polish...lol
Is this really polish (meant to abrade the surface ever-so-slightly) or a fancy name for Windex? If the former, do you have a name and vendor? Thanx

I use a plastic cleaner/finisher for the airplane. I'll get name when i goto the hangar
Good thought! I do recall from my flying days long ago that there is some sort of canopy cleaner/polisher/buffer that makes the windows transparent again. Seems like it should do the same for a display.

PS--I guess we can blow off the sugar cube idea by this point.

What Brass product do I need to look for to remove scratches on my scanners display and where can I get this? I looked online and all i saw was Brasso brass cleaner

That's what you want. Brasso is mainly used to polish brass, but is great for removing scracthes on clear plastic. Those who have been in the military are familiar with Brasso and keeping belt buckles polished!

I'm pretty sure Brasso Brass cleaner is what others were refering to. At least that is what I was refering.
It's just a very fine abrasive, jewelers rouge would also work, although I haven't tried it. Not on a scanner display anyway.

I work in the auto glass industry... The stuff we use is an expensive scratch remover compound..
