Hello,

Might anyone using SDR# explain how to set or optimize the "Order" number next to Bandwith in the RADIO Section ?

Can set Bandwidth O.K. usually by just dragging the edge, but what is the function of "Order", and how to optimize the value for I have no idea. How to go about this, please ?

And, what Filter type have you found "best" ? e.g., Hamming, Blackman, or...?

Same answer for AM, NFM, or USB ?

Thanks,
B.

"Order" refers to the mathematical properties of a filter. Google might help with the details.

I have found the default filter settings to work fine. The most critical setting for digital decoding is the frequency correction.

"Order" refers to the mathematical properties of a filter.

In general the higher the order of a filter the sharper it's out of band roll off is. The payback is that transient response suffers, but this is not usually a major problem.

A first order filter rolls off at 6 DB per octave. Second order is 12 DB, and so on.
