I do not understand that there is no software for SDR that works in the same way as a scanner.
All of the programs available are made according to principles that are primarily based on a
Spectrum Display available in SDRSharp, HDSDR, SDR Radio, Linrad, GQRX, CubicSDR, SDRUno, SHinySDR, and so on.

And then there are various kinds of Plugins that can act as a scanner.
But these scanner plugins work primarily only on analog frequencies.
But what I am more interested in is a program that is primarily based on a list of frequencies
that are entered and from here the scan is like a scanner group / banks on traditional scanners.

Each entered frequency must be set up if it is FM, NFM, AM, DMR, DStar, Digital etc. one could
then use DSDPlus for decoding DMR as a plugin.

Other plugins could then be used to decode other formats ex. Tetra.
And it would also be possible to scan frequencies that are beyond what Spectrum an SDR can handle at most. Ex. 2.5, 10 MHz.

A PC should also be able to scan the frequencies much faster than a scanner as a PC has a more powerful processor than a scanner.
But until now I have found nothing to do this.

DSDPlus with FMPA is something of a nightmare to set up.
This come close to what I want. But way to slow to use.

You can speed it up. Run multiple dongles, each running it's own instance of software(s) and having it's own scanlist. Split your one scan list across 3 dongles and you now are effectively scanning three times as fast. Just a thought. Seems to work for me. I use DSD+ Fastlane and have multiple mode records in each scanlist. I use one of the dongles to scan a very busy P25 Trunked frequency.

It sounds like a traditional single purpose scanner device is what would suit your aspiration best.

Sdr radio is not that, but can be if desired, the flexibility, versatility and utility and personal preference of a configurable SDR far surpasses a dedicated scanner box in my view.

I am 74 years old and have so far managed to implement my SDR to provide me all of the requirements you have mentioned and far more in fact... on both Win and Linux platforms.

I don't mind putting in a little elbow grease and noggin smoke to get there, in fact that is the part I enjoy most about the SDR hobby, which is what it is-- not an out of the box instant gratification option.

Just sayin'

These decoder programs are often written as proof of concept or system analyzers, with scanner features taking a back seat. With dongles being so cheap, just run a few of them if you want to monitor everything.

It's possible, but the amount of coding required is a lot. Look at a program called SDRTrunk it does alot of what you discribed. It isn't DMR cable sadly and the FM setting you can only scan 1 frequency a second so speeding that up would be a neat deal ... Would love to see that added but once again it takes a lot of coding to make what software is out there and mostly for free. SDR is really still relatively new and as it becomes more popular still has lots of growth
