Thanks for your response WD9EWK. I'll check RS first thing tomorrow and if they don't have it there's a Fry's not far from me.
I forgot about Fry's, they have just about everything related to antennas and electronics.

br0adband there's a RS just down the street from me so hopefully they will have it. I've been scanning a long time and have just about every type of adapter except the SMA. Never had a need for one.

Amazon.com has all the adapters you need, do a search on there web site for (pigtail cable) and all of the adapters will come up for you.

Low Stock

I see that the 4 stores in California have the SDRPlay back in stock so I hope the NH store will get them soon.

The store in Sunnyvale California is Low on stock already and it's only been a few days since their shipment of SDRPlay RSP's Came in, it looks like there selling like hot cakes, Still no stock at the HRO Store I ordered from.

I was in the Phoenix HRO store yesterday. They were sold out of the RSPs, but said they received a shipment of 10 last Wednesday. Those 10 sold out before they closed on Wednesday. They simply aren't staying in stock, and there is a demand from hams over here in the US (and Canada) for these receivers.

I think I will end up purchase a second RSP, and may just order it directly from SDRplay and wait the 7-10 days for international shipping (and the inevitable hold at US Customs on its arrival in the USA). That might be easier than ringing the local HRO store, and having to make a cross-town drive to get one - if there is one they could even hold for me. Hopefully HRO and SDRplay are paying attention to all of this.

If SDRplay and HRO are working to get still more RSPs in the stores over here - great!

Whether it is the novelty of a sub-$200 SDR receiver that covers from MF to 2 GHz without the need for upconverters or downconverters, or more knowledgeable users are taking advantage of this receiver being available stateside, it's nice that they have been flying off the HRO shelves. Unless, that is, you want one, and you're not in the store when they arrive. But for SDRplay and HRO, this is a good "problem" to have, as long as more inventory is on the way from the UK.

IF I decided to purchase a SDRplay what antenna would you suggest? I live in Phoenix (85018) area. I have power lines in the alley behind my home (if that matters). I don't live in a HOA development so antennas are no problems. Also a antenna that I can also use with another higher end SDR device if I upgrade down the road. I have a few other question but we'll see how this goes over first.

It depends on what you want to hear with your SDRplay. HF, VHF, UHF, ... ? What do you want to hear??

Antennas are one thing that don't have to be specific to a particular SDR device. What you use for certain frequencies/bands with the SDRplay would work for the same frequencies/bands with another SDR device or non-SDR radio. If you hear noise from the power lines, a call to your power utility (APS or SRP) would be in order, as they have an obligation to fix that - but that can sometimes take a while to happen. With any antenna installation, make sure you stay away from those power lines.

Hopefully I am in the correct forum. Heck I have read so much that it is all confusing, information overload for sure. Like I said not only am I new here, I am completely new to "all" of this. I have done quite a bit of reading but it is pretty overwhelming. I am computer computer literate, at least on the Windows O/S (i5-4690 CUP 64 bit @3.5GHz, 8 GB) but I do have an old dedicated Ubuntu desktop (Pentium D 3.00GHz 32 bit) as well. Way back in the dial-up days I ran a Bulletin Board Systems dedicated to CAD and was a Fidonet hub for about 6 years. I never got into Ham Radio but was always interested in doing so. I do have a long wire ran in my attic (called a G5RV Classic Antenna) hooked up to a switch box to an old Hallicrafters SX-28 (yes capacitors have been replaced), S-40, Lowe HF-225 and a 150. I am not even sure if everything is hooked up and grounded properly. I can't seem to find much to listen to, then again, I am a novice.

To be perfectly honest, I never thought about what I wanted to hear. <red-faced> More than likely HF but I have an interest in satellites, ISS, maybe AMSAT type "stuff" and even downloading packets related to that area, perhaps weather maps. I realized it difficult make suggestions when I can't supply any specifics but I did my best. I have also read about the CommRadio CR-1a, ELAD FDM-S2 and at least a dozen or so others, then antennas, phasers, preselectors yada, yada.

I got lucky today. RS had the adapter I was looking for and that just happen to be the last one they had in stock.

Also when I picked up my SDRplay at my local HRO on Saturday the guy told me that was the last one but according to their website they are not out of stock so not sure.

I played around with it a little today and I like the SDR Console software better than HDSDR. I think it's easier to use and is kept up to date. I read somewhere that HDSDR hasn't been updated in a while.

Just an FYI. I reached out to Mario the author of HDSDR and an update is in the works. Myself & Solarix (also on the board) used to beta test for him about 3-4 years ago. When will it come out? Nobody know but i did speak to him via email about 2 weeks ago.

First, thanks for providing the list but can you please tell me how to import it to HDSDR?

I click on FreqMgr, Import from file* and click on the file you provided. It imports the list but when I double click on one of the frequencies or lines the software doesn't switch.

Just to the right of that is the Ham Bands and double clicking on one of the lines switches to that frequency.

Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong?

It would be nice to see an updated HDSDR, provided it remains a bullet-proof SDR software to use with a variety of receivers, and not end up on the same path as SDR# lately with (too) many recent updates.

I have no issues with the fact that the last HDSDR version was released about two years ago. The Hardware page on the http://www.hdsdr.de/ web site continues to be updated with new ExtIO DLL files, and new receivers as they have come on the market. HDSDR works well with all of my SDR receivers - SDRplay, FUNcube Dongle Pro+, various RTL dongles, HackRF (both One and Blue). I'm still learning about SDR stuff, so I'm sure there are some features that others have seen from other software, which would be nice to add to HDSDR.

SRDPlay RSP Shipped

Just went to Ham Radio Outlet - New Hampshire And bought the SRDPlay RSP, it's out of stock but wont have to wait too long for it, they said they got 10 pcs in three days ago and they sold out right away. I guess I'm not the only one buying one of these, really look forward to getting back into the HF Band Again, I mostly listen to the Utilities bands, I'll have some time getting the antenna's ready and making up my frequencies lists and downloading software too use with SDRPlay while I wait for the SDRPlay RSP to come in.

Not to bad it only was two weeks for HRO to re-stock, I thought it would be shipped from Salem, NH but I see it's being shipped from Anaheim California. It went out yesterday so taking into consideration the time it will get to Canada and if the Customs clears the package quickly I should have it some time next week, it's hard to say how long Customs will take to clear the package. Any way good news it's finally on it's way.
