Need a little help, like a digital scanner, can I run trunked and conventional at the same time? I wanna hear 1 Tower with 1 CC, and 24 Conventional frequencies.
If you haven’t used the SDR before, limitation of is the bandwidth of the dongle. Some of them like the airspy are two are 10mhz wide, but many of them are 2.5 or three. So, depending upon the range of your individual frequencies…
Also, squelch on individual analog ones isn’t like a normal scanner, so play first.
Assuming bandwidth isn't an issue, you can do it with one dongle, SDRTrunk isn't *really* made for non-trunked traffic though and so the setup is rather annoying to do. You can run both simultaneously, in my experience the software will always try to keep the conventional and control channels tuned but will not tune to follow a trunked call if it requires dropping any of the conventional channels even if they're idle. The convention channels I had running saw basically zero traffic so I can't speak to how well this actually works in practice.
Strange decision to set up a control channel and then also set up 24 conventional non-trunked channels though... Is this one of the ARMER sites that is running conventional channels for bridging to an organization that isn't fully migrated to trunking?
The cheap msi dongles the rsp1 clones are under $20 and have 8mhz viewable with around 6.5 mhz usable. Also they could assign one to monitor the p25 and the other to scan frequencies but you'll miss transmissions.
