http://vvcap.net/db/8qzXUMCfqqjHb3dlaDee.png does this look right to you guys for this system? i only put the first channels in should i add the rest or no?

Which tuner are you using? The program is showing that it didn't find any tuner (s).

You can add a channel configuration for each channel in the system and then enable each channel that you want to run, within the available tuned spectrum of each tuner. When you see red (no tuner) that means the channel is enabled but no tuner is available.

The passport decoder doesn't yet auto-create traffic channels like the mpt decoder does, so you'll have to create a channel config for every channel.

Yea I had it plugged in but I was not around the system its self tho could that have been what was wrong?

When you start the software with the dongle plugged in, does the dongle show up in the Configuration window, under the 'Tuners' section?

I posted a new version of sdrtrunk, available via the 'download' link at https://code.google.com/p/sdrtrunk/

New Features:
- Automatic Frequency Control for all decoders, enabled by default, with yellow indicator line for each channel in spectral display. You can disable it in the 'Decoder' tab. Adjust your PPM at startup and AFC will track the channels regardless of tuner drift.
- Improved spectral display with baseline and height adjust via right-click menus
- Channel FFT spectral display - enabled only when visible and channel is selected
- Improved call event handling for all decoders, with start-stop call events now consolidated to one event
- Updated Site & Channel display formats for all decoders.
- MPT-1327 Short Data Message (ASCII, Binary/Hex, Map27, etc) and radio registration message handling
- Improved false call event handling for LTR, LTR-Net and Passport
- Updated site/channel display for Passport and LTR-Net
- Expanded R820T tunable frequency range to 3.18 MHz to 1782.03 MHz, however still appears limited to above 24 MHz ... continuing to experiment.

Resolved Issues:
- R820T tuner was incorrectly tuning/unable to tune half of the contiguous frequency range

cheers,
Denny

Try it now. I just posted a minor update (20140919_0837) that fixed an issue with the LTR channel state. I checked and the .jar is in both the .zip and the .7z versions.

thanks! I got it......but it looks like i have the same issues with java....1 I dont know it and 2 it seems that windows does not know where java is.

I looked at the tutorial on changing the path but I'm not sure what to change it to?? Java is located C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7 ..... I basically just put that in there for the new path....which did nothing to help.

I'm not sure what else I need to include here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to using your java magic soon....hopefully!

You have to include the \bin folder on the end of the path. The bin folder contains the java.exe program. Look in your file explorer and find the correct location for where the java.exe program is installed.

If you are using a 64-bit version of windows, the 64-bit version of java might be here:
C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0\bin or,
C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.7.0\bin

If you are using a 32-bit version of windows, the 32-bit version of java might be here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.7.0\bin or,
C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.7.0\bin

If you have both versions of java installed, set your path to the 64-bit version.

Once you've successfully setup java, you can type the following in a command prompt window:

java -version

and it will respond with the java version information.

If you have any command prompt windows open when you change the path, you'll need to close them and re-open them, so that they pickup the new path information.

This afternoon I had the time to try the new version of SDRTrunk. I recently went from one dongle to four and ran into a problem when I started it up while I already had SDRSharp running and using one of the dongles. It did the initialization but exited without starting the gui. As a test I shut SDRSharp down so that none of the dongles were allocated to anything. SDRTrunk started up fine then. I don't know if this situation would have happened with the prior version as I hadn't used SDRTrunk since I added dongles. The attachment is a zipped copy of the logfile created when this situation happened.

I posted a new version (20140920_0613) that's using a new logging framework. I don't have a windows laptop available this weekend to recreate your scenario with SDRSharp ... could you try running the latest build against the same scenario?

If you don't mind, could you can post the log as a new thread to:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/sdrtrunk

Thanks for the feedback and help,
Denny

I put this aside for 3 months as you can see and still same problem.

does sdr trunk pass audio or what? so far mine does nothing,

In the TUNERS screen it correctly shows my rtl2832/e400 dongle.

I'm trying a single site analog 800 trunk system with one control channel, in the TUNER screen for my dongle do i enter the control channel frequency here or what? If so then I did this and still it doesn't work.

I have selected the lowest dongle sample rate and I have the proper gain and ppm offset,

I see my control channel on the screen and at times all i hear is unsquelched CC data and other times I only hear periodic cyclic squelch opening like the dongle is doing some kind of sampling.

I'm using a e4000 dongle, I have the control channel for local pd in the channel configuration set and when I click ENABLE and choose save, the channel turns GREEN but then nothing except a periodic squelch popping.

The dongle does work as at times I hear the control channel data break thru the pc audio but there is no changing to the voice channel when listening to the same system on a uniden scanner.

There is no audio and as far as i can tell the dongle stays on the control channel and never changes.

Do I need to use 2 dongles? A control channel dongle and a voice channel dongle perhaps?

Also would some one who has this working care to do a short simple youtube video showing the steps from the dongle setup up to setting up the software and scanning a simple single site trunk system?

Or even a sample .png file or similar attachment showing proper screens for a mythical 1 control channel system.

EDIT: Ok I think I have things royally messed up, as i read tyr 6 pages of this thread and still no audio nor indication that the dongle switches to a voice channel.

Do I enter the control channel freq in the TUNERS SCREEN and then in the NEW CHANNELS under New Sites screen do I have to enter the voice channels here or what?

does sdr trunk pass audio or what? so far mine does nothing,

Which decoder are you using?

Once you've setup and enabled a channel and it is running (not red), select the channel (it will be highlighted in yellow) to hear the audio. The LTR, LTR-Net and Passport decoders use automatic squelch, so you'll only hear audio when there is a call. The NBFM decoder doesn't have squelch control, so you'll hear audio all the time.

If you've setup a channel map, the MPT1327 decoder will allocate new channels for calls when they occur. Start a decoder channel running against the control channel (it will turn orange if there is valid data). When a call starts, it will allocate a new traffic channel, select the allocated channel to hear the audio.

For the RTL2832 based dongles (E4000 & R820T), use a lower sample rate. 960k or lower is good.

Any error in the sample rate causes the allocated channels to be mistuned proportional to the sample rate error and that gets amplified at the higher sample rates. Automatic Frequency Control can only pull the channel into correct tune if the channel is close to start with. I'm working on Automatic Sample Rate Correction to correct the issue with the higher sample rates and hopefully eliminate the need to adjust PPM altogether on the 2832 dongles.

Do I need to use 2 dongles? A control channel dongle and a voice channel dongle perhaps?

The program can allocate multiple channels from the same tuner, as long as they all 'fit' within the tuned bandwidth (sample rate). It will poll each of the tuners to see if they can support a new channel and automatically retune/recenter the tuner so that all of the channels fit. If none of the tuners can allocate a channel, it will show red (no tuner).

It's a E4000 tuner and the channel is always highlighted in green, i see no yellow.

In fact if I close and restart the program it comes up showing the correct control highlighted in Green on the single control channel on the left side of the screen and there is a very brief control channel data sound then nothing.

I turned decoder AFC on and off and still no fix.

As mentioned, I briefly hear control channel data then nothing after this although the uniden scanner opens squelch so the system is active.

The system is a Motorola type II analog FM, I tried sample rates from 960k down to minimum.

I tried another near by systems control channel and they both show up highlighted in Green so I know that the program is recognizing the 2nd nearby control channel but still no voice channel activity.

This is running Win8.1 on a dell venue tablet so maybe its a pc issue, i'll try a desktop and post my results.
