No DOS skills heh?
Forget the backslash at the beginning...
\Desktop\ means go to Desktop frmo the root (C:\Desktop)
Desktop\ means go to Desktop from the current location
..\Destkop\ would mean go to Desktop from the parent (C:\Users)
..\..\Desktop\ would mean go Desktop from the parent's parent...

In any case use CD to change from one folder to another.
i.e. CD Desktop will get you to Desktop... CD .. will get you back to the parent.

I purchased a NooElec tuner for $18 and had SDRTrunk working the first day on one computer, however I have not been able to get it working since then. I checked and my ppm correction is 53, which seems high but maybe that's typical. I can hear and verify signals just fine using SDR#, but I cannot get a single system to decode properly with SDRTrunk. I have tried multiple LTR Standard and Passport systems and I'm pretty sure I should be getting IDLE messages every few seconds. For some reason, the tuner keeps changing frequency as well, like from 452.8375 (that's what the channel is set for) to 452.85375. So it shows off in the waterfall. I re-adjust the tuner and it still won't decode the idle messages. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? I'm trying this on three different computers. Thanks...

Can you post a screen shot of the application with a channel enabled for decoding either LTR or Passport?

I have figured out which settings will successfully decode passport for my setup, at least for one repeater in particular. I dropped my sample rate down to 0.240, tweaked my gain to about 444, and corrected my ppm to 51.3 instead of 53.0. Oddly enough, the 53.0 worked great with SDR# and Unitrunker, so I don't know how it was so far off. I think that is why the tuner kept adjusting the frequency as well, since it must have detected that the signal was slightly off-center. I am now reading most Idle messages, however I'm still getting some garbage here and there.

Excellent. I'm glad you could get it working.

Each software program's PPM settings may be different. A PPM difference of 1.7 (53.0 - 51.3) means a difference of 769 Hertz at that frequency range.

sdrtrunk's automatic frequency control will auto-tune to the strongest signal that it sees. It works by measuring the DC offset present in the signal after FM demodulation to measure the mistune amount. Sometimes there are birdies nearby a signal of interest and the AFC will tune to the birdie until the signal of interest becomes stronger. With LTR and Passport only transmitting idles periodically, AFC can lose focus on the signal of interest and drift. If you find that it continuously locks onto a birdie, you can turn off AFC in the decoder tab and sdrtrunk will stay center tuned on the frequency that you specify.

I have a question. The SDRTrunk program is wonderful and I love it, especially since I got it to work finally.

The new version let me get it to work when I had nothing but headaches before.

The one thing though is it won't keep working. It runs for a while with the memory usage going up and up until it locks up at close to 4gb memory used.

It has out of memory messages and GC something over memory messages in the black side window.

I've changed Java memory to run max 12gb which is what I have on machine and it still does it. No idea what else to do.

So any help would be great, thanks

Which decoder(s) are you running and how many?

I'm running conventional MDC 1200 channels and two fleetsync channels. All analog on two SDR dongles.

FM type.

Ok. I've got a few things that I can adjust. I'll post a new build sometime next week. I don't have access to my dev machine at the moment.

Okay thanks. Let me know if you'd like screen caps of the black window with the info in it or anything. I really appreciate the help.

New build posted on the downloads page (sdrtrunk_20141205_1109.zip).

- Switched to the Java G1 garbage collector to resolve memory issues
- Includes experimental LJ1200 auxiliary decoder, now with CRC checks (thanks to Eric Cottrell)

Anyone that was previously having issues with out-of-memory errors, please let me know (here or google groups) if the new memory manager changes are working or not. I tested on both Linux and Windows and I'm very impressed with G1's performance on the Windows platform.

As an update.

The new version slows the growth of the memory greatly extending time to shutdown quite a bit but eventually after 30 or so minutes it still shuts down as before. Right about 3.41 gb memory used.

Much improved over what it was though.

Are the messages stored in a log anywhere?

Message logging is not turned on by default.

To turn on message logging, in your decoding channel, under the 'Event Log' tab, select 'Decoded Messages'. Then disable and re-enable the channel to start logging.

The log files are stored in your user directory under: SDRTrunk/event_logs/

I'm working on P25 now and it should be included in the next release. I've got the OP25 C4FM decoder ported over to java and am currently working on the messaging and error correction/detection.

Denny

Can't wait for this one... Finally got it working here but without P25 support for the local system, not much can do with it.

Can you hear/have you tried running sdrtrunk against any of the the MobileTech LTR-Net sites around Homer? Tully, Niles and Ithaca all have LTR-Net, and Tully & Ithaca both have Fleetsync GPS channels.

No I have not tried it... Will have to go into the database for Tompkins county to see if I see anything here at work and then check out Tully this weekend when I am home...

Well tried it on some of the LTR sites when I was at work and got some things to come up on the screen for activity. Will take some more playing with to figure it out. Will try more this weekend at home to see what I can find that is close by.
