I'm not having any trouble with the membrane on the SDS100. Only very rarely have I ever mistakenly hit one of the pushbuttons on the 436. I never used the lock.

Admittedly, I may not handle the scanner as much as others.

Has this been addressed? Will this ever be?

It seems unlikely that a keypad lock feature will be added to the SDS100. Without the lock symbol printed next to the power button it could cause a lot of confusion when the keypad stopped responding after being locked.

Ironically in early versions of Sentinel you could set the "Keypad Lock" option to On for the SDS100 and the keypad would be actually be locked after writing to the scanner so *part* of the keyboard lock code was implemented in the SDS100. Unfortunately there was no way to unlock the keypad directly from the SDS100. Uniden later changed Sentinel so this option is no longer present when targeted for the SDS100.

SDS 100 Keypad Lock

I tried that as well, no joy. It appears the feature was omitted in the SDS100. It could be added in a firmware update though, and probably should be.

I remember reading earlier this year in one of these forums that Uniden specifically
deleted the keypad lock on the SDS100 because the keys are flush with the front
panel and cannot accidentally get pressed while carrying the unit. Uniden deleted
the keypad lock on purpose in one of the very earliest software updates.

Which is a complete BS response. Keys get pressed accidentally all the time on my radio, it's very annoying. Also, since there is no keypad lock, ever volume adjustment is now a 2-step process of pushing the knob down then turning. On my 'inferior' 436 with the keypad locked, the only function the knob can perform is volume control. If anyone knows have to make the volume control the primary function of the MFK I would really like to know! I couldn't give a damn about changing the direction of scan.

I’d vote yes for adding keypad lock function.
