I have own scanners since the 80s my first was a Sears 10 channel radio, (Still Works) showing my age.
The radio is good for NJ PSIC and nearby trunking radio systems however it is NOT GOOD
analog conventional VHF and UHF systems I am comparing it right next to a Uniden 125
even for the next town or two over, I am using the stock antenna with this radio. If you own a
BCD 436 in my eyes your good to go its more or less the same radio, I understand your milage may vary depending on your application. Tell you one thing SDS100 its a sexy looking radio with the color combinations on the display, also I would never knock Uniden it's pretty much all I own they made a great
product.

I have to agree with this. Even though I use my SDS most of the time, if I want to just listen to local analog stuff, I pull out my 436. My experience isn't as much as the reception, but just the audio quality on analog is just terrible.

i think the reason for poor audio is the radio is set for too much treble, sounds a lot better on external speaker less hiss as for signal i see very little difference between pro 668 and sds100 on all bands.
bcd536 is better but its a base/mobile so its going to better then a portable anyway
