While scanning, should it say ID searching? OR ID scanning ?

ID Search will let you hear "everything" on a trunked system. ID Scan will limit what you hear to only what you've programmed.

So ID scan wont show the unit ID ?
ID Scan and ID Search has no impact on whether unit ID is shown or not, see how to customize display options here. ID Search will show unidentified TALKGROUP IDs whereas ID Scan shows only known talkgroup IDs programmed into a favorites list

ID scanning will show whatever talk groups you have programmed on the system including their Alpha tag. ID searching will show not only what you have programmed with it's Alpha tag but will show all talk groups in the system and all you will see is the TG ID number which you can look up in the database to see what it is.

Keep in mind if you have locked out any of the talk groups that you have programmed in the system they will not show up on ID searching. You also have the option of locking out any discovered talk groups you don't want to hear during your search.

In case you don't know a quick way to toggle back and forth between ID searching and ID scanning is while in scanning mode press function enter.
