Well I've waited a year & The prices have not come down

I'm tired of not hearing the CSP & its new radio plan/band on my 436 & HP 2, I'm in rush hour every day in Hartford

My 436/HP 2 Kicks Six receiving everything else in my area

That being said, I am looking For suggestions/comments on how the SDS 100 would be 4 the Hartford Manchester area, Especially 4 CSP Troop H,W, K & C

It would be going in my Jeep, It has 2 glass mount antennas, SDS 100 would be easy 2 remove due 2 constant vandalism in my area

How easy is it 2 program on your own or should I have some1 do it 4 me ( technology challenged I am)

My listening plan would be CSP, All related Talk groups, specialized units etc

Hartford police & fire, always busy

East Hartford PD & Fire

Manchester PD & Fire & 8th district Fire

Tn/ww/ Fire Ems Frequencies 4 my area

In Closing

I'm looking 4 best price & Service, Scanner master & Bearcat warehouse I've dealt with b4, But ill listen 2 other suggestions , Just not Zipscanner, I know they r bad & a ripoff

TIA

SDS100 programming is identical to the 436, except you have some extra options for the display and filters that are specific to the SDS100. You use the same version of Sentinel for both.

I have no regrets buying t he SDS100.. It runs circles around my 396XT on 800 mhz. If you have a Jeep you may be able to use the Remtronics antenna, I think its the 820. You may not even need an external antenna. I clip my scanner to a cell phone cup holder in my Tacoma. It receives very well with just the Remtronics antenna, even though it's inside the vehicle.

How much more will you actually hear for nearly 7 hundred bucks. Why is the 436 doing so poorly and the HP 2 for that matter? My 436 does the job pretty well.

If you are trying to monitor a simulcast system, the difference can be huge. The linked folders have audio recordings made by the SDS100 and 436, both connected to the same antenna and run side by side at the same time with the same programming, holding on the same systems.

For non-simulcast stuff, there's not a whole lot of difference between the SDS100 and 436, when run side by side off the same antenna.

You are right about everything you said I just don’t agree with the last part you said . The bcd436 In my opinion is better then the sds100 when it comes to vhf&uhf .

I've done similar tests on non-simulcast UHF and VHF stuff, and when connected to the same antenna, the amount of traffic captured is pretty much identical--within a percent tor two. If you do a comparison with separate antennas, the antenna performance is more likely the cause than the radios.

I was getting more far distance channels vhf & uhf on the bcd 436 My friend has one I hooked it up with a roof antenna and then hooked my sds100 and I received about 7-8 more channels with the 436 was very surprised. I love my sds100 tho I think it’s one of the best on the market now other then it’s big bro the 200 .

Did you verify the settings were identical? There are all kinds of settings that can affect what you receive that have nothing to do with RF performance. Different service types selected, different range settings, different location coordinates, and several other factors can skew the results. You need to write the same profile (only changing the model flag) and favorite lists to both scanners to ensure everything is identical, or you've invalidated the test.

I basically did everything right ... zip code , range, messed with filters on sds100 and I didn’t get as good results with the sds100 on vhf&uhf .

It sounds like your 436hp and sds100 had different versions of the radioreference database

Sentinel for the SDS is very similar to Sentinel for the HP-2. The only difference is that it has more options to play with, like display customization in the Profile and so on. But the process for copying stuff from the database to a new favorite list is nearly identical.

I have had the SDS 100 since February 2019. I bough it because I had a bcd325p2 and I wasn’t able to hear my local pd. (Wethersfield). Now the SDS 100 is picking it up with no problem. I also can hear the new Britain system with no problem in Wethersfield by the rocky hill town line. I’m running a retro max antenna in my opinion the stock antenna sucked. I constantly monitor the city of Hartford trunked system. It’s perfect for a 30 year old system. I also track to New Jersey every month. I monitor that state system for Newark, side by side with a bcd325p2 the sds 100 always catches a transmission.

My 325P2 and 996P2 do great on the new csp system my 536 and TRX 2 are good also.
I had to adjust the P25 decode on them but once I found a good setting it works fine
My 325P2 works great in Hartford downtown because the site is right there and you don't get any overlap

Cant wait 2 make up my favs list so I can listen 2 what I want

Gonna be a bit of a learning curve, but I see the potential

Entering a zip code changes Range to 20 miles. Reduce it to 5 at most and you won't scan so much out-of-range stuff.
