If you have no issues with other systems using the same frequencies and system type that are within your coverage, then setting everything to search are the best option. The less you can restrict reception by introducing different type of filtering the better it will be. Even the slightest false decode of the signal would otherwise make the scanner mute and/or move to next system or similar unwanted action. Even better if you can run with ID search enabled.

It's too bad that the skip of encrypted transmission are hardcoded in firmware as just a minimal bit error could make the scanner think it's an encrypted signal and will immediately leave the system and go to the next one.

That was my thinking, I'm in a rural area and shouldn't have an issue with overlapping agencies. I've used Proscan for 5 days logging user ID's and have since created DMR single frequency favorites for both county law enforcement agencies nearest me. I can log their traffic more specifically, and as time goes by I can add the names and numbers of Sheriff, Dispatch and Deputies. I have also left ID search enabled as well because I may have not logged all users yet, although it is surprising how many User ID's I have logged so far.

I've been logging User ID's for a while now and have been able to rename to actual names or department numbers, but have recently noticed the AWIN Arkansas State Police Troop I has had different Troopers using the same UID. I've been listening and updating I-9, I-14 etc, and clearly hear I-9 talking to dispatch and then later I-14 will talk with the same UID. I'm using Proscan to log and an SDS 100. With essentially unlimited UID's how can they use the same one?

What month is it?
Say a dispatch goes out and you have your delay set to 2. The unit responds within that 2 seconds..... It will stay on the dispatch unit ID.....

This may not be the case here, but something to be aware of.

IT CHANGES QUICKLY BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN DISPATCH AND OFFICERS, BUT DIFFERENT OFFICERS SEEM TO RESPOND ON THE SAME USER ID. I'VE ONLY SEEN IT HAPPEN 4-5 TIMES BUT I DON'T NORMALLY SIT AND WATCH THAT CLOSELY.

As noted above different officers may use the same vehicle and/or HT. Does make logging a challenge. Then there is the latency of the repeater does not drop between replies. If watching on Proscan you can see the change (for example Dispatch 1 to Car 54 and Back to Dispatch 1) but the logging only catches the first UID keying up in this case Dispatch 1. Another example is Car 54 calls Car 100. Usually only Car 54 shows up unless the repeater drops in between responses.

In addition to what others said, this could also be a patched TG. While sometimes the patch will include UIDs from like-systems, often it will not.
