The whole thing was a joke....
Good for you! I was a little worried there, when you looked like you were going to get involved I was going to recommend getting a better deal by just offering cash.

It really is all in good fun. :D

Let's look at other silly options that would still make it "illegal", but a scam of a different sort:

1) One of the Uniden representatives has gone berserk, and has "reallocated" thousands of units to their own home address, where he/she is selling them out of the garage.

2) One or two of the many of those ships that are waiting to be unloaded off the Pacific Coast has been hijacked by pirates who knew what ships were carrying the SDS series, which is now docked in some Mexican port awaiting hundreds of illegal aliens to put them into backpacks and smuggle them across the border for sale in the U.S.

3) The President of Uniden has realized that the ship is going down like the Titanic and has commandeered thousands of units to bolster his upcoming retirement.

4) Some of Uniden's suppliers have decided to go "rogue", and the reason that there are no parts available is that they are assembling and selling their own SDS series.

Just to add a little humor to all the absurdity.

I seen this add on Facebook pretty sure it is a scam. Too good to be true?

Why do people still use Facebook?
For many, it's some sort of self-satisfaction when they can brag about having so many "friends." For others, they're importance is amplified when they get a "like" for something they said or did.

When FB first came out, I joined. I included a picture my grandkids and me. Within 2 days, I was contacted by "Candy" wanting to be my friend. While Candy's picture certainly looked interesting, I didn't know her. I speculated that it was some hairy-legged guy trying to incubate a scam. That's when knew FB wasn't for me. The last time I was on FB was 5 or 6 years ago when my ex called me because of a questionable email that purported to come from. She warned me that my account may have been compromised. It wasn't and I haven't been on since.

For the record, I don't use Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat or any of the others. The amazing part is, I'm perfectly happy without them.

Fb is good for close friends and family. With the right security settings, Candy and her friends cant and don't bother me. As far as Facebook Market place, its a good alternative to eBay if you are seeking something used. For new items I never use FB Market place.

Facebook and Twitter are good if you need to get in touch with a company and don't feel like speaking to someone or getting lost in a business's phone menu system. Had a dmv related question and at the height of covid, wait times on phone were insane. Reached out to NYS DMV Facebook page and they responded quickly. Social media is pretty much how I handle most customer service needs as its faster and leaves a paper trail.
