I currently own a Uniden HP-2, and BCD325P2. I recently purchased an SDS-200 which should arrive before 03-10-2020.

My question:

Is the SDS-200 USB Cable the same as the HP-2 and the 325P2 USB cable - can it be used for those scanners as well?

A new SDS200 will include a programming cable. It is just a regular micro USB connection (like most Android phones before USB C). I imagine any micro USB cable would work as long as it is capable of data transfer and not just power only.

I don't know what connection the other cable is so I don't know.

Do you mean Mini USB?
My HP2 and BCD436HP both use Mini USB. I know the SDS100 has both but i thought programming was done via Mini.

Micro, not mini. The SDS100 uses a mini, but not the 200.

I almost asked the same question, maybe someone that has both scanners SDS200 and 996P2 can tell us if the cables are compatible

I DO have both of these. The 996p2 is mini and the SDS200 is micro. Hope this helps.

Are you trying to power the 200 from USB? If so you're not going to get the radio to work via USB for power. It needs 12V

I have an adapter that plugs into the cigarette lighter slot, I then plug the USB cable into that adapter, and I then plug the other end of the USB cable into either my HP-2 or 325P2 to power them while I am mobile in my vehicle.

I'm inquiring if the same USB cable that I currently use to power my HP-2 and 325P2 will be able to power my SDS-200 when it is mobile in my vehicle?

So it has to be powered by the AC Adapter that plugs into the cigarette lighter?

Well, it's not an AC adapter if it's plugging into the cigarette lighter, but yes, either the AC adapter, the DC adapter (cigarette lighter plug), or the wiring harness that's provided to hardwire the radio into the vehicle.

Ooops, my apologies, I got my adapters mixed up. :giggle: So mobile in the vehicle it has to be powered by the DC adapter (cigarette lighter plug), NOT the USB cable like the HP-2 or the 325P2 can.
