I do read the forums daily... I will take my chances and wait. My decision and my prerogative. If there is a fix great, if not oh well... I love how everyone jumps on you for having an opinion. I dont care...

Seems clear as mud as with all uniden problems ZERO TRANSPARENCY TO PEOPLE WHO SPENT $700 ON A DEEPLY FLAWED PRODUCT AND COMPANY.

Isn't that why companies make flawed products so when the next model comes out and things are built better then we buy more radios to keep them in business

The display on my SDS200 is dim, at brightest setting. The SDS100 display is MUCH brighter.

I don't understand how such a nice, large display was built, only to incorporate insufficient backlighting in daytime use.

And I didn't buy a full color display to run it in black and white mode, just so I can see it in the daytime...

So if you are not happy either send it in to be fixed or sell it.

Contact Uniden for an in-warranty repair. If it was a new TV, Smart Phone, Computer, etc, you wouldn't be expected to keep it as-is. It should work properly. It's not like you bought a used or refurbished scanner off Craig's List or Ebay.

ONCE AGAIN...IF YOU DO NOT LIKE IT, EITHER DO NOT BUY IT AND LEAVE THIS SITE OR IF YOU HAVE A UNIT THAT NEEDS REPAIR, SEND IT IN. IF YOU BOUGHT IT ON AMAZON, RETURN IT. YES I AM WRITING IN CAPS BECAUSE I ALONG WITH A FEW OTHERS ARE REALLY TIRED OF HEARING SUCH NEGATIVITY. i WISH MODERATORS WOULD CLOSE THIS.

You can press the off button on your computer and close your heart mind & soul off from negativity. The point you missing is every manufacture has made mistakes some eventually fix them some don't.
You cant unfairly paint a companies products as all good or all bad to be fair .

But a company that has a history and culture of dishonesty and secrecy regarding the flaws, failures deficient designs or engineering fails it puts out ,is honestly putting itself out of business ,when the public loses faith in the companies ability to handle routine issues ,let alone a crisis, because they circle the wagons and don't talk openly & honestly with its existing customer base ,it has little hope of attracting or retaining new customers ,and that hurts everybody.

So if you don't value open and free conversation be it praise or critique of a product ,get off the internet and hide your head in a bucket of sand if you like ,however expecting the civilized world to refrain from same because mister longwire is not adult enough for such content sounds more like the narrative coming out of the White House and the toddler in chief .

You cant stop people from expressing there opinion ,however you can prevent said exposure by turning off the computer and playing with your radio instead .I am not for or against uniden or any particular manufacturer until they burn me as customer (If you would like list PM me seperately) as for suppressing open and free exchange of knowledge or information ,thats contray to core principles of both the United States and IARU which many who own Public service monitors are part of both.

Peace

I understand the display brightness, or lack therof, is consistent over all the SDS200’s.

And good grief, some folks need to calm down, we aren’t picking out a coffin, it’s just scanners.

And I fully support our President!
