SDS option question

for the SDS radios what options do i want to make it work with anything in North IL and South WI ? but mainly will use for starcom21 ?

For Starcom 21 you don't need any options. It should get it right out of the box. I don't know what else you want to listen to but Starcom is good to go.

Before spending the big bucks you might want to check if the StarCom systems you want to monitor are encrypted.

There is a Lot of DMR and a a little NXDN in Illinois. I have the waterfall too, but I've only used it twice.

DMR and NXDN are mainly business around here.. I put all the updates on my 100 when I bought it.. barely use them.. They are handy for finding close call hits, but beyond that, for LE/Fire.. out of the box is fine.

If your going to buy any upgrades, avoid buying from zip scanners. They charge almost double what Uniden charges.

Also learn to program your scanner yourself. Someone Hundreds of miles away does not know your Area as well as you do. 1 exception is @tvengr he has helped several users with their areas but he still 100% does not know your area.
When systems in your area CHANGE AND THEY WILL you will know how to make the changes.
