I was thinking, if. I were to travel somewhere by plane, then. Be able to listen to local LEOs'.
I always put my portables in my carry-on.
His use case would probably be to use the case. 
Honestly seems a bit overpriced to me. Could probably buy a similar sized Pelican case for around $50 and cut the foam out to custom fit. I don't like that the Etsy case doesn't have foam completely surrounding the scanner.

I use a Pelican Vault that cost about 55% of what they charge. All one needs to do is get a razor knife or an electric carving knife and cut out the shape you desire.
Harbor Freight sells something similar to Pelicans.
But they have these super cool CUSTOM Police Scanners in BLUE!!!

An old pistol case is cheaper than that case. Probably less than 50 bucks.
