HI, new SDS 100 user, mostly monitoring NYPD (UHF T conventional). reception seems mediocre, in addition there are bouts of staccato"machine gun "sounds which we used to identify as paging systems and which were evidence of a weak front end on the scanner. is it possible that to this scanner is stronger on digital and trunk systems.?feedback would be greatly appreciated

One other issue I am running in to on my SDS100. I get a fast, staccato kind of static that comes through with the analog transmission every so often on this Motorola Type II Smartnet analog system, might last for 3-6 seconds. Same transmission on my BC250D is clear as a bell. I just happens once in a while, and I have not been able to catch it on a video recording to post... Right now I am using WIDE AUTO filter, but has occurred on other filters and no filter settings too. Just curious as to whether this is known and if there are any settings that might make it go away. Again, not frequent, just more annoying, especially with the audio muting issue already having my BP up...

Next time you hear this take a look at the voice channel that is being displayed while you are listening to the transmission.
Keep track to see if it is the same voice channel all the time that has the problem. Sounds as if it might be adjacent channel
interference from someplace. You can't really compare the SDS100 with the BC250D because they are like apples and oranges.
Totally different technologies.

Yes, I was just making the reference to the 250D signal to confirm that it had no similar sound on that same transmission. I will see if I can get the frequency and see if it is occurring on one particular frequency or if it across all of them. Thanks
