Here are some videos of the SDS100 in action in the southern half of the state. Overall I've noted some performance over the 436 even though a few P25 Phase 2 system seem to have taken a step back. At my house reception is disappointing. In other areas nearby reception is stellar. As always YMMV

Camden County P25 video:

All monitoring with a Larsen Tri-band magmount antenna using 1.03.03 Beta firmware.

Have you noticed any improvement with SDS100 over the bcd436HP or Whistler TRX1 in receiving distant stations using DMR with RAS and NXDN. I'm interested in hearing 3 PD's who have gone to DMR in northern NJ and two of them have RAS I believe. I'm about 15 miles from all 3 of them. Wondering if sds100 will give me better reception then 436bcd.

PM me directly. I can decode Kinnelon and Pequannock which are both RAS with no problem. Comparing to a Motorola XPR7550e with proper RAS code shows decoding is pretty much spot on.

I have not tried Rockaway Twp or Hopatcong yet as I haven't been out that end of the county in a while.

Did you Receive RAS with a scanner or your Motorola Xpr i have Kinnelon Pequannock and Hopatcong programmed in the SDS100, but not getting anything in Linden may not be in range or SDS100 not able to decode RAS

I remember hearing Rockaway clear all the way down the GSP into Monmouth on their VHF repeater. That thing got out.

We had a tactical GMRS repeater that I set up for testing at a friends house up in White Meadow Lake putting out 50 watts through a DB-408 and I could hit that thing all over the place.

Receiving Kinnelon and Pequannock on both XPR and SDS100 fine. Then again I am in the northeast corner of Morris County.

I also can chime-in on Hopatcong as well on the SDS100 - very busy early this afternoon & every transmission was flawless. No RAS-related receiving issues at all.

Thanks for info on Hopatcong. Did you have to do anything special on settings to hear them. They are pretty far away from me and I had to use Yagi to get them on TRX1. Hopefully a SDS100 can hear them better with good scanner antenna from Diamond.

So Pequannock and Kinnelon you would say, could be heard fine on the SDS?

Some food for thought.

RAS can be decoded 100% on all Uniden models that have the latest firmware along with the DMR upgrade. Check out the Pequannock PD broadcastify feed, it provides 100% decode from a 536HP.

Whistlers still only decode about 90-95% of transmissions, unfortunately.

I have to disagree with the Whistler percentage. I would say less than that as a user compared to an XPR listening to the same systems.

You know more than me when it comes to this!
That was just a general approximation.

I guess if we're going to take percentages it would really depend on the length of the transmission itself.
It might be worth mentioning that my Whistler gets a much better decode off of Kinnelon's IPSC system than Pequannock's single conventional repeater site. I'm not sure why, as both sites come in very strong, and both run RAS, although I did read in another forum that the IPSC might have something to do with the scanner decoding more quickly?
