I did a 30-minute airband test with the SDS100 and 436HP connected to the same antenna, and reception was nearly identical. The main difference was occasionally picking up a different active transmission when 2 pilots were talking at the same time.

SDS100

Received my SDS100 this morning. Outstanding performance with the Somerset County P25 System. Also 800 Smartzone coms very well received. Worth waiting for!

Does anyone else on here use their SDS100 to monitor Burlington County? Are you having success? What settings are you using?

The sds100 for me side by side with the 436 . The sds100 is clearer sounding with p25 . About the same signal with stuff farther from me . The sds100 is louder ,Easier to read with the color screen is it better than the 436? Me? I’m glad I bought it . For the consumer . If I had the 436 I could wait a bit while the kinks are ironed out with the sds100 . If your in the market for a new handheld ? No question the sds100

The SDS does not have any settings other than a volume offset per channel/talkgroup. The I/Q receiver sees the signal in all 3 dimensions & does not require 'fiddling' like all the previous models did.

Anyone using an SDS100 in Ocean County? Mainly interested in which NJ 700 tower you are getting, and how you're getting the county 700 system?

Yet this is a UHF Motorola Type 2 system in which certaim settings may affect performance.

At any rate I've had the most success setting the Digital Waiting Time under each site to 0ms. I set end code under System Option to Ignore and status bit to Yes. Modulation is NFM. No IFX on any voice frequencies. This is different than how ive set up any other scanner for this system. It is still holding on voice channels after transmissions have ended causing scanner to miss the next transmission. Error log and video to come.

If this is helpful at all I am in Camden County and receiving the county 700 system with room to spare. Transmissions are no more choppy than my local county 700 system. As for NJICS the Bordentown simulcast has sites in and covers most of Ocean County. It's very strong.

Both of those settings, if I understand you correctly, are incorrect. If you are ignoring the end code, many follow up transmissions occurring on different frequencies will be missed & there will be frequent delays in returning to scan.

Status bit to 'yes' means every specialty talkgroup (patches, etc) would have to be entered directly, instead of resolving back to the original host talkgroup. The preferred settings should be 'Status Bit = Ignore' & 'End Code = Analog & Digital'.

That's kind of what I thought. Again normally I program this system your way. Doing so on the SDS100 appears to lead to more clipped or altogether missed transmissions when I try it. I may do a video if I have time. Regardless the unit is getting hung up at the end of transmissions and I've tried numerous things. Im 7 miles from the nearest site and approximately 1 mile as the crow flies from the county border. With the latest beta firmware reception is fair otherwise except for some garbling. It is a difficult site to hear.
