From what you write it sounds like the display indicates the scanner is doing what it should. In other words, it boots and runs. Makes me wonder about your antenna (connection).

OP, do you have an extra antenna to test?

I was nearby one of the SRRCS Countywide Simulcast sites, and on a whim, I took off my antenna and the signal was strong enough that I was able to receive audio with the antenna off. This might be a fast and easy way to determine if the unit is experiencing the Cold Solder Joint issue or a defective antenna.

If that happens, you have a 90 day warranty period. Average turn around has been 2-3 weeks. Sending anything now might take a little longer with Christmas and New Years Day holidays.

Yes I did that. Put the stock one back on. No difference but now all of a sudden it’s working 🤷🏻‍♂️

Glad it's working again! Might have an antenna connector or cold solder joint issue, but if it happens again, you'll know and can plan to send it in to Uniden.

I live in Barrie, Ontario, Canada and I can get the local police even without an antenna, so I sent mine in for the cold solder joint. My scanner was doing the same in not picking anything while my Motorola XTS 2500 was picking up the police. I know it's there in Roanoke but haven't heard from them yet.

If the scanner stops working after it has been on for a while and is warm NOT HOT it is a sign of the COLD SOLDER JOINT PROBLEM.

That's what it was doing. It would work fine when you turned it on but after a while it wouldn't pick anything up.

That *could* also be caused by an SD card with read or write errors or a corrupted file system.

Try a new SD card, formatted using FAT 32 (or FAT 32 ext) file system and initialized by sentinel while it is in the scanner.

Repairs seem to be such a hassle. No one near me that I can find works on these. Sacramento area.

Uniden does flat fee repairs. It's $94.95 with the shipping charges.

Already sent it in and got e-mail saying it was at the repair shop in Roanoke TX. Got the e-mail last thursday and I should have called but forgot and they only work till 3pm?? I had a spare SD card but I can't find it LOL. Might have to order another one when they call.

Holy cow, you got an email. At no point in my repair did I get any email. They said on the phone their email didn't work.

There was no receiving/ repair status or shipping emails from Uniden in my case . Fed Ex however sent me the delivery and arrival schedule notifications .
