Hello all. I recently received an SDS100 and it works amazing in other areas, (despite my last one I had in 2021), somehow I keep having reception issues with Austin Fire Dispatch. When I monitor other cities like San Antonio, it has little to no issues when receiving an alert for a call, but with Austin Fire, it rarely gets the whole transmission, let alone I'm lucky to hear the full transmission, either cuts in half way, or late. Is anyone who monitors Austin Fire, or any frequencies in the area missing transmissions as well? Even when I hold the channel it still misses transmissions. Is there something I need to tweak on the scanner? Or is it best to get an after market antenna?

I monitor a majority of AFDs dispatch channels, as well as some Tac channels, and EMS traffic as well.

Everything on the scanner is stock as well, no aftermarket accessories on it at all.

Thanks in advance.

I can’t speak for other areas, but for me my SDS200 works best when I slim it down to just a few sites mainly the simulcast sites. When I had all the sites loaded, it would miss transmissions, but once I cut it down it started working great.

Also, not sure if you’ve done this yet, but make sure you update the database on your radio.
