Hmm... Mine is also priority mail but wont be getting them till Monday.

Keep your hopes up - I had a SurePost package delivered last Sunday that was scheduled for Monday. Even FedEx didn't know the USPS delivered it the day before according to the tracking info...

Updating... I'm looking at my tracking data for the antenna, and it now shows at a local distribution facility, so I *should* have it tomorrow - two days earlier than the scheduled delivery of Monday - if the USPS doesn't hold it for some reason.

Just got mine today. With the stock duck I was receiving around -103dBm. With the Remtronix I'm seeing as high as -93dBm for the same system and location on my desk. In fact, I have used a Motorola 800 MHz dipole duck that I got with my XTS3000 when I bought it and the Remtronix is receiving just about the same, while being roughly 1-1/2" shorter than the Motorola.

I do have to admit I had to use the SMA->BNC adapter plus a BNC->Reverse SMA adapter to even try the Motorola, so there are losses associated with testing the Motorola.

Pic is of the radio with the Remtronix on it. I know it shows "---" for RSSI here, but that's because it's laying on my desk for the photo. I did the tests with it standing up.

Can you share a photo or two on how it sits on the radio close up?

Couple pics of the Remtronix fully seated & then a close up of the stock duck & Remtronix ends with the O rings.

How's performance with that new antenna vs the stock duck on p25?
I have a Radio Shack "Sputnik" at the peak of my house at about 25' fed with RG6 and that feeds a multicoupler that feeds my SDS100, a GRE PSR-500 and a Radio Shack PRO-106. The SDS monitors the local simulcast system that is in the county I live on the border of. My GRE and my 106 never had any hope of receiving that system with stock ducks in my basement. When I got my XTS3000 I was able to receive it in my basement occasionally. Today, the SDS can receive it with the Remtronix in my basement. With the stock duck on the SDS it was hit & miss. So it has made a noticable improvement. I won't run it in my basement, though. I got it for when I visit my buddy in Milwaukee and when I visit family in Detroit. It's going to be nice having a bit more signal in those cases.

Received my REM-820S over the weekend.
I’m overall satisfied with the performance but it is not much better than the Radioshack 800 MHz antenna.

Still, love it. Love the fitting as well.

Note: -74dBm inside a building with no windows and surrounded by computers and monitors.

Well, it should perform just about the same, if not ever so slightly better than the Radio Shack 800 MHz. antenna, it is identical other than the connector. The RS 800 was a private label of this antenna with a BNC, these were later sold under the Remtronix name in both a BNC and SMA version and now the SMA that fits the SDS100's waterproofing collar.

I have always been under the impression (and once told) that the Remtronix 800mhz antenna is the original name of the Radio Shack 800mhz antenna, simply rebranded and licensed to be sold as such (and under other brand names too) unless you are speaking of the 800mhz (and vhf/uhf) center-loaded telescopic metal antenna sold by Radio Shack. Remtronix-Radio Shack, same antennas, different names.

A camping friend let me use his no-name all-band antenna one night on my TRX-1 and - wow! Tell you what, my TRX-1 came alive with this antenna. I wish I knew the name of it. He was of no help with info, he bought it used at the Dayton hamfest at a tailgate and he was not willing to part with it despite my pleadings and monetary offers lol. Very generic, silver metal with a black plastic shroud at the BNC base. Radio Shack (I think) made one with the black plastic bubble (resembles the cheapie CB antennas) in the middle that was rippled and oval, but this one was more squarish and linear. I'll know it if and when I ever see it again and I will jump on it. Fantastic antenna!

The way I understood it is that the antenna was made for Radio Shack in the Far East. After RS discontinued most of its scanner line and accessories the antenna's manufacturers sold the antenna branded as Remtronix. There may have some connection to GRE at the time as well. Afterwards Alinco was involved and may have handled distribution. It gets kind of murky and I don't know all the details around it.

The Remtronix name may well have predated the Radio Shack branding on the antenna, but the first time I heard of the name was when the antenna was reintroduced after the implosion of Radio Shack. It might have been used in other markets perhaps as well.

Whatever the history it works great! I use it on my BCD325P2 and my PRO106 and it works great. I tried to get one of the SDS100 versions from work and was turned down, too much demand from paying customers!

I have a system I enjoy monitoring, a P25 VHF system with multiple sites.
Sadly neither the RS800 or the RM820S perform well in VHF. I know they’re not designed for VHF so I got me a VHF 136-174MHz BNC antenna and it works really well. Of course, I switch back to the RS800 or RM820S when monitoring other 700/800MHz systems.

Here is the VHF antenna with the SDS-100 SMA adaptor.

I would love to find an antenna that does well on all bands!
