I would think the supplied charger and cable should be able to charge the battery though.
So I have a USB detector that shows that when the SDS100 is on it is consuming 520-760mA and while it is off it is consuming 0mA.
Oh!!! I just fixed it. I noticed that the middle of the three gold coated connecters that contact the battery was sitting low. Its spring was stuck down a bit. I played with it a little (pushing and releasing) and it returned to the right height and now the red charge led is on!! Also it is consuming 710mA while off.
