Is anyone having trouble using ARC536 with the SDS150? Software says latest version, but scanner isn't recognized by the software.

Have you done everything outlined in the Connecting Scanner to PC section of the software manual?

Steps for the 436 should be the same for the 150 afaik

Software says latest version
You need to verify this via the website and in the app by choosing Help > About. Current version as of this posting is 2.8 Build 2. I don't run the app normally but I previously had been running 2.2 and "Help > Check or Updates" had told me I was running the latest version, which I know for a fact wasn't true. I ended up having to visit the website download the latest version

Thanks-got Build 2. But software still doesn't detect the scanner. Familiar with the process from the100, have tried two USB A to USB C programming cables.

Thanks, guys. Using sd card reader with laptop works. Cables still don't
but it's good to have SOME way to update. Really appreciate the thought you put into this.

If the sd card is not showing up as a drive when you are in mass storage mode, you may have an outdated driver that is causing a conflict. Uninstalling the outdated driver is an effective fix.

From the Wiki:

Some people have experienced issues connecting the SDS150 to computers which have been used previously with SDS100 and SDS200 scanners. Apparently this is caused by a conflict with the older driver. The solution is to uninstall the old drivers, at which the new drivers will automatically install.

Posted in the forum by a user:

  • 1. In Windows, with the scanner not connected, right click on the start icon and select "device manager"
  • 2. Under the "view" dropdown menu, select "show hidden devices"
  • 3. Right click and delete all Uniden serial ports under "Ports (Com & LPT)" in the device tree. I my case, I had 3 Com ports listed.
  • 4. Power on the scanner and connect it.
  • 5. Set the scanner to Mass Storage mode when prompted on the screen. The Sentinel software will now install updated USB drivers
  • 6. You should now see a new drive letter for the scanner in the File Explorer, and Sentinel will now be able to read & write to the scanner
