I’m new to the scanner. I have a sds150 and had bearcat warehouse program it for me. Programmed 3 counties and the one I live in hasn’t had 1 broadcast in the 3 weeks I’ve had it. I’m curious if I need something more in the programming? I don’t know anything about it. Juab county in Utah

First things to check: Squelch is set to "2" and the relevant Service Types are enabled?

According to the database, you should be able to hear numerous conventional and P25 channels.

The SDS150 has built-in GPS, which makes location-based scanning easy. You can enable GPS and set Range to 50 miles (in the menu under "Set Your Location"), then go to the "Set Scan Selection" menu option, and under "Select Lists to Monitor", set "Full Database" to "On". I presume this menu should also display the pre-programmed lists, so you can also turn those "Off" or "On'.

Welcome to the forums! Do yourself a favor and download and install the free Uniden Sentinel software: http://info.uniden.com/UnidenMan4/BCDx36HPSentinel You will be able to save the programming in case it gets erased or corrupted. Once Sentinel is installed, go to the Tools tab and set Target Model to SDS150. All of the options associated with your scanner will be available in Sentinel. Plug the programming cable into your computer. Turn on the scanner and plug the cable into the scanner. On the scanner keypad, press E when prompted to enter USB Mass Storage. Go to the Scanner tab in Sentinel and click on Read from Scanner. Once the favorites lists have been transferred to Sentinel, go to the File tab in Sentinel and click on Save. Your programming will now be safe. You will also be able to export your favorites list hpe files so we can take a look at them to check for any programming errors. It would help to know your city, county, and state and what you wish to monitor so we can get our eyes on the database to check for any possible problems such as encryption.

Say no more. It's common for folks who have their scanners programmed by a third party to have issues. First thing that sticks out to me without seeing your programming first hand & after looking at your county's talkgroups on Utah Communications Authority (P25) are most of the talkgroups are "...talk" or "...tac" service types. First thing I would check to ensure the Law Talk, Fire Talk & Fire Tac service types are turned on (reference "tag" column in the RRDB) so traffic from these talkgroups can be passed through. These are not enabled by default and may not have been enabled by whoever programmed your favorites list(s). Next, be sure to only scan one site at a time as not to miss traffic. There are 3 sites listed for your county: Godiva Peak, Dog Valley & Levan Peak. Choose the site closest to you and site hold onto it. You should see signal bars & a data link if it was programmed correctly with all listed control channels.

Looks like your sheriff's office may still be conventional analog so you'll want to make sure that is programmed into your favorites list as well. Law Dispatch service type is normally enabled by default but you may want to double check to be sure.

Zip up & post your Sentinel .hpe export as a reply here so we can get eyes on your programming if all of the above yields little to no improvement.

Expect a bit of a learning curve with the SDS150 if you have little to no familiarity with Uniden's current line of scanners. Peruse the links given to you in post 3. Plenty of resources & folks willing to lend you a hand right here on the RR forums. Welcome aboard!

I just bought a new SDS150 and I have it pretty programed the way I want but have a question.
My local FD dispatch audio is really loud can that be adjusted in Sentinel at all?
Thanks in advance

The SDS series of scanners are beasts! And beasts can be tamed, with knowledge!

With having a scanner preprogrammed ahead of time, the buyer then assumes they only have to turn it on and enjoy, without even needing to know even the simplest of basics. This inevitably sets one up for failure, and thinking they blew a grand on absolutely nothing. However, once you start to learn, you learn more, and still more, without even trying. Suddenly, you realise you're mastering this impressive beast of a scanner, and hearing things in your community you didn't even know you could hear! It looks quite daunting, at first, then you realise, you're flipping through favourites lists like a pro, and all it took was figuring how to turn a list or lists on or off! It isn't that hard, just daunting!

And yes, the first thing I thought when I read this thread was "service types". That got me, the first time on an SDS100!

Would I say I know everything about my SDS scanner? Nope. That's actually why I'm here - I'm still learning form this community! It's also why I called the SDS series "beasts".... Once you learn, it's as easy as turning on or off, but before you realise just how much these things have to offer, it can be quite scary, like a beast.

If it is everything on one channel, yes you can use a negative volume offset for that channel. If it is just the console audio but not mobiles/handhelds then nothing you can do.
