The SDS series of scanners are beasts! And beasts can be tamed, with knowledge!
With having a scanner preprogrammed ahead of time, the buyer then assumes they only have to turn it on and enjoy, without even needing to know even the simplest of basics. This inevitably sets one up for failure, and thinking they blew a grand on absolutely nothing. However, once you start to learn, you learn more, and still more, without even trying. Suddenly, you realise you're mastering this impressive beast of a scanner, and hearing things in your community you didn't even know you could hear! It looks quite daunting, at first, then you realise, you're flipping through favourites lists like a pro, and all it took was figuring how to turn a list or lists on or off! It isn't that hard, just daunting!
And yes, the first thing I thought when I read this thread was "service types". That got me, the first time on an SDS100!
Would I say I know everything about my SDS scanner? Nope. That's actually why I'm here - I'm still learning form this community! It's also why I called the SDS series "beasts".... Once you learn, it's as easy as turning on or off, but before you realise just how much these things have to offer, it can be quite scary, like a beast.
