SDS150 Dropped

I dropped my SDS 150 with the included SMA to BNC adapter in my garage, and bent the adapter and the SMA on the scanner...... 😔
It seems to be receiving property, but I'm probably going to have it repaired anyway.

Is anyone familiar with the repair process? Is the antenna going to be an easy or substantial repair?

I'm considering buying another SDS150, depending on the repair quality of the damage one.

If you are unsure if you can successfully repair it yourself, Uniden's flat rate repair is certainly much cheaper than buying another one. The rate is about $80, plus another $15 for return shipping. Add to that your out of pocket cost to ship the scanner to Uniden via a method with a tracking number, such as FedEx or UPS ground, or USPS.

It will be approximately $99 as the previous person mentioned. You will be pleasantly surprised because they will repair any issue including screen issues. I know it’s a new scanner but their turnaround is two weeks or less.

I recently had an issue with my (SDS100) antenna port starting to come loose due to frequent antenna swaps (which I stopped doing). The reception had also reduced significantly. I didn't hesitate, I carefully packed it up and sent it in to Uniden. Turn around time was exactly 10 days (shipped to and from) and the total including all shipping was $110.85. According to the repair invoice they replaced the SMA Connector/port. The scanner receives excellent again, I can now hit 3 different NOAA Weather repeaters where as before I was only able to receive the closest repeater. It kinda sucked to lay out the $110 but I'm convinced it was totally worth it and recommend their services should you need it. In warranty or out.

I dropped my 150 and the volume knob was damaged and did not operate properly. I disclosed the fact I dropped the radio which caused the damage. I sent it in to Uniden and was told they would inform me of any charges after an evaluation. I was told to include a copy of my sales receipt (from Bearcat Warehouse) which I did.

I was very surprised they fixed it with no charge. The whole process took about 2 weeks. I would suggest first open a claim (or whatever it is called) to repair your radio. Then they will guide you through the process. Good Luck!!!

Thank you all for the input. I sent the scanner to Uniden about a week ago. Just waiting for the repair.
The down time is quiet but I'll live, I can always just use my sdr if I really get bored.

I've heard the bent volume knob is a very common problem when it comes to accidental drops (even short drops). Could be they took some mercy on you given the fact that they tend to bend easy. The scanner (and standard OEM antenna) only weighs 8.3 oz but when you add the battery it jumps to 12.1 oz. Just a little fall on a hard surface at a bad angle and poofto! You're screwed.

I had the same thing (dropped unit resulting in damaged antenna connector) with my 436 3 years ago.
Sent it off to uniden, had it returned to me fixed in record time
So my verdict is "Spend the money and send it to uniden"

I received my SDS150 back from Uniden Repair last friday, just in time for memorial day weekend shenanigans.
Uniden repaired the bent SMA on the scanner and replaced the BNC to SMA adapter, both "Under Warranty"......
Scanner is receiving flawlessly, I'm very pleased with the results.
